    Greetings!

Does the Samsung ATIV Book 9 (2014 Edition) support HDMI 2.0? Can it drive a 4K external display?

As far as we know, none of the Samsung laptops have HDMI 2.0. I don't think many others do either.

There are several Ativ Book 9 models that could qualify as 2014 models:

    1) NP940X3G (13 inch Ativ Book 9 Plus) is Samsung's first Haswell model from August 2013. It has an internal 3200x1800 LCD (3K) and is confirmed to support 4K@30Hz through HDMI (see this). The NP940X3G Owners Lounge has more discussion.

    2) NP900X3G (13 inch Ativ Book 9) is a Haswell refresh of the very successful classic Series 9. We had some discussion about its support for 4K displays here, but I don't think we have confirmation. That post is in the NP900X3G Owners Lounge where you will find most discussion.

    3) NP940X5J and NP930X5J (touch and non-touch 15.6 inch Ativ Book 9) are Samsung's latest Haswell models. It is reported ( here) to support 4K@30Hz (possibly even 60Hz, I am not quite sure). It seems to have by by far the best external monitor support yet of Series 9 / Ativ Book 9 models -- where previous models were all hampered by their use of Micro-HDMI ports.

Unfortunately Samsung does not provide DisplayPort on any of its recent models, and even previously only on select 17 inch models.
