    Hi,

I've got a Samsung laptop but the screen is broken, it's a hardware issue it looks like there are like 100 touches happening on the screen at the same time so it means I can't do anything with the laptop. I can't even log in to turn off the touch screen.

My question is, can I completely remove the screen, buy a normal computer monitor and connect by HDMI?

    Would this still work?

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Luke

The first thing I would do is to get the bottom off the computer and disconnect / reconnect the cable(s) for the display. Look for whatever cables go into the hinges. The thin ones will be for WiFi antennae (unless mounted in the chassis) so ignore those. If you are lucky then there might be two bigger cables, one for the display and one for the touchscreen system. It's the latter (it it exists) which needs your attention. And, if it does exist, then you might find the easy fix is to leave it disconnected if the display itself is OK.

You may well find that an HDMI external display will work by itself although you may have to use the Fn key facility to step through the display options. I would first use the external + internal displays together so you can see how how the external one behaves. It may not come on until the graphics driver is loaded.
