Ugghhh... the N110 has a glossy lid. I like matte so much better.

I prefer matte as well, but it sounds like from reviews the screen does a good job avoiding glare, so maybe there it hope.

I have to say I don't get Samsung. Maybe it's just me but the two-tone color scheme thing is such an eyesore. I much rather see them keep the whole thing one solid color. I thought it looked tacky with the NC10 with the silver strip, and the red strip on the NC110 just looks even worse.

The NC310 looks chunkier but I suspect the width is probably identical and they just didn't taper the sides like on the others. The endless screen also looks nice, and I think I spot chiclet keys on the NC310.

But, Samsung, do us all a favor and offer one solid color already! Preferably black.

Aw great, both of these models have glossy screens vs matte in the NC10 model. I really like the NC10 model and it seems as though Samsung is starting to lose it.

What the heck is up with the N310's lid, it looks extremely cheap and like a bar of soap!
The glossy screen on it looks even worse than most since its a "frameless" screen like on the new Macbooks, I personally don't like that choice.

    Thanks!

What? That lid looks childish!!! They must be crazy... Maybe, NC310 must be aimed at children???

I really like the comments below the NC310 article... LOL
The people who made those comments are really funny..

    Yep, I think I prefer the NC10.

The good news is that the price of the NC10 should drop now.

Yeah it does look like a toy or something, which is rather cute TBH, and I'm a guy. :D

Personally I wouldn't mind too much about the whole design of the NC310. I can see how the glossy screen can be a bother, but c'mon, almost all consumer notebooks/netbooks come with glossy screens now. I'm just glad that it has a full-sized right-shift key and a decent size touchpad, instead of those cop-outs found on many Asus and MSI netbooks, just so they can have a "perfectly aligned" keyboard.

You could always take the view that the distinctive appearance means the computer is less likely to go walk-about.

I don't understand why the glossy screens are still so popular now that we have brighter backlights when offset the brightness reduction caused by an anti-glare coating. Perhaps it's more a case of the anti-glare coating adds another $2 to the cost.

If Samsung have any sense, they will keep the NC10 available in parallel with these new models so customers have more choice.

To me it looks like a laptop case and not the actual laptop. I don't much care for the looks. There is a rated 11 hours of battery life, which is pretty impressive. Although I felt the 8 hours rated on the NC10 was more than enough, I can see how the half a day would attract some.

Y'know, I'm begining to like the N310, esp. the keyboard and the whole rounded look, it looks very succinct. Overall it has a MacBook feel to it.

I'm even okay with the huge logo at the back, even though it does seem a bit obnoxious.

"The Samsung N120’s claim to fame is that it will hae a 10.1 inch display - but the same full sized keyboard found on its 12 inch laptops."

I'm not sure I see the point of that. Why not just use a larger screen?

Because a large screen adds to the cost. It is cheaper to instead create a larger keyboard and chassis I think.

True, but machines with big borders around the screen never look right to me.

But then, I rather like the styling of the N310, so what do I know :p

The great pity is the loss of the matt screen on the NC10.

I doubt that is the reason to make one of them with a 10.1 and the other with a 10.2. I think the actual reason is the battery life, they are claiming 11 hours of battery life (and 10.5 on the 110).

The N310 is now on the Amazon UK website.

If the specs are correct it has a matte display (good) but 4 cell battery (bad) with pricing that's currently slightly more than the NC20.

I personally think this is about battery life as well as size. The other thing is that of course it cost more to have a 12.1" display vs 10.1" display to say other wise is just silly. They wanted to hit a certain price point, right now the N120 is being sold for $399.

That is a personal preference though! It really doesn't look so bad and I really like having the speakers in the bezel.

Don't forget that Microsoft charges more for XP if the screen is bigger than 10.1". I think Intel also does the same, which pushed Samsung to the VIA hardware for the NC20.
