Okay I have had the 9 cell battery for the NC10 which I purchased from ebay for $65 including shipping..

I wanted to wait a few days before I posted a review to give the battery time to balance out.. this is my 2nd day with it

The first day the hours remaining were going crazy.. here are some pics from today. By the way I am typing now with 3 bar brightness.. 91% battery left
going between 9 hours left and 10 hours left.

The 9 Cell battery fits nicely into the laptop and yes it does make it heavier
I actually like it though because the laptop has a little more weight to it.. Makes it easier to type on because the back is now higher in the air and the keyboard is at a slight downward angle, making it better to type on.

Also the extra weight makes the laptop feel more solid and stable.. I have no problems with the looks and it makes the laptop feel less flimsy.

Still going down and up in the hours left frequently.. might need a few more days to test this fully but I have screen shots below

I have screen shots below.. done with wifi on and cpu regular speed

Normal Battery Setting- 1 bar of brightness
    [IMG]

Normal Battery Setting- 3 bars of brightness

Normal Battery Setting- 5 Bars of brightness
    http://www.geocities.com/danwolfy/5bars.jpg

Normal Battery Setting - Max Bars of brightness
    http://www.geocities.com/danwolfy/maxbars.jpg

There are the screens.. I will take some more screens next week..
As I am typing now I have brightness on 5 bars, 86% battery life still showing between 8 and 10 hours

If you want actual pictures of the laptop with the 9 cell.. I can provide those when I get home.

All in all I think it was a good purchase.

    thanks
    - Daniel

You may get it from that site, but I do not know if that
    1. Will work
    2. Will work as good as the buyer I received mine from

    Thanks

    15 hours... pretty impressive indication.

Have you tried it at max. battery profile? What did it say?

This morning, with wifi on, Battery set to Maximum Performance

Battery is showing between 9 1/2 to 10 1/2 hours of battery life
but I really do not think Maximum performance is necessary. Dont really need maximum brightness... My guess is that the 9 cell battery makes this laptop between 3-4 lbs

If I drop the brightness down 2 bars.. battery life goes up to 12 hours max.. this is on maximum performance settings

If I switch it from Max battery life to Max Performance.. Battery Life goes to 13-14 hours

If I switch Max Performance to Normal Mode.. Battery life goes to 12-14 hours (Normal mode is only 3 bars of brightness)

Normal Battery Mode with Maximum Brightness: 9 1/2 -10 1/2 hours

I will probably end up using Normal Mode with Max Brightness.. THat way I can get through an 8 hour workday without needing to bring my battery charger.. pretty awesome if you ask me.. I also have a charged 6 cell backup now that I have my 9 cell battery as my primary

Any other questions please let me know.. THanks-- Daniel

    Thanks Magikhat!

    This is a : 7200mAh-Battery. There are also 7800 mAh-Batteries available.

Magikhat, could you pls do overnight a test with battery eater (freeware). This will make the results comparable. Use the same settings as mine. (pic)

    http://batteryeater.com/download.html

I have also a 7200 mAh.Battery and tested it on maximum performance. The result was 6:49 hours.

Things like brightness level, bluetooth, wireless on/off may be important for comparison.

Also it can be interesting to read your battery with RMClock to see what the real capacity is, instead of the advertised capacity.

Click on "BEPro.exe" in the downloaded folder. Mark the field "start test when AC is not connected". Do that, when the battery is fully charged and than disconnect the AC. Test starts automaticly.
    Under "Options" do nothing.

How does the standard 5200mAHr battery perform under the same conditions?

True. Battery eater creates a constant 40% CPU load. With normal browsing the CPU load will be much lower.

I tried to do the test with the 6 cell battery but after my battery drained, my browser would not come back up and I had to restart the computer. So can someone else do this test if possible?

Normal Setting.. which right now my battery shows 9-10 hours left

I think the battery eater program is not accurate.

It is accurate but it creates a 40% CPU load. Normal web browsing uses much less CPU.

    Hi Magikhat

New to the forum... Just wondering how the 9 cell battery is holding up a few months down the line. Have you had any problems with it? Is it still holding its charge okay, over heating or anything else?

Any info would be appreciated. (Also from anyone else who's had the 9 cell for the NC10 a while...)

    Thanks in advance.

    Speranza.

My friend bought the 9 cell from Dealextreme for $51.25 includig shipping: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.22496

He's very happy with it. But he only had it for 2 weeks. Only downside from Dealextreme is that their orders sometimes take 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for the info Phil. Am tempted myself to get one also, just wondering how those who bought one a while back are getting on with it a few months down the line. All seems good at the moment.

Am surprised that Samsung themselves haven't released their own version!
