Hi Guys
Hope Im posting to the right thread.....
Im Having a strange issue with my Notebook
the laptop Bluetooth wont discover/show-up devices that I am trying to pair.
A bit of info first:
my laptop is a Samsung NP300E5C-A0DZA
stock so far except so far upgraded the stock HDD to a bigger one for my work
in order to do this I had to upgrade my BIOS, but I did this through Samsung website.
all working fine except for the Bluetooth,
also downgraded from win 8 to win 7 ( Dont get me started....)
This Computer picks up the Bluetooth correctly as Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth 4.0 +HS
HWID as :USB\VID_0CF3&PID_3004&REV_0001
and:USB\VID_0CF3&PID_3004
all the drivers look to be installed correctly, no conflicts but did hang at a few points during the installation.
bluetooth icon is displaying correctly in system tray,
bluetooth support service is started in service's and as a few forums state set to automatic run.
but I can never add any BT devices, I set my phone to discoverable and tried with 2 other phones as well set to discoverable, I can even add my phone with no problem on another laptop(HP and Dell).
even if I try scanning from my phone for any available BT devices I get nothing that looks like my PC.
What else should I try? my WLAN is working properly as it should but I'm not sure if this laptop shares the BT and WLAN together as one.
I loaded all the drivers from the Samsung website correctly but still don't see my BT functioning properly.
im not even sure if this laptop actually has bluetooth in the first place
there is no indication on the BIOS screen of if there even is a Bluetooth adapter or WLAN even installed.

The icon in the system tray should mean that Bluetooth is turned on in Easy Settings (press Fn + F1). If you haven't got Easy Settings installed then go and find it using Samsung's SW Update program (and install it). SW Update may also offer other updated drivers. Samsung have stopped maintaining their download site and expect everyone to use SW Update.

because the Samsung website only has the win 8 SW update option.
what do you advice I do? load the Samsung SW update? or try something else? -

Thanks for the advice John,
I downloaded and installed ESM manger, it in turn got the correct version of SW updater.
(not a fan of automatic upgrading mangers)...
but it only shows my laptop is win 8 supported. also when I got it I downgraded immediately to win 7
no win 7 drivers whatsoever on SW update listed.
(the ones I loaded at the moment are from the samsung website with win 7 specifically selected).
selected win 8 and got the drivers it recommended, didn't see any bluetooth drivers downloaded.
only WLAN and other drivers, all very clearly marked win 8 32 bit.
not sure if I should try load any of those drivers? my WLAN and display and all else works perfectly.
only my BT is not working properly, will my win 7 work with these drivers? do I need to select anything specific for it?
(compatibility mode ect..)
Thanks again. -

Use the Find Model option in SW Update to look for version of the NP300E5C that do have Windows 7. I see at least 2 in the USA selection.
Note that some research of specifications may be needed to identify which version has the same hardware (eg BT adapter) as yours. If the BT is in a WiFi / BT combo card then everything may be in one driver package.
Many manufacturers have moved to using an updater program. It's much easier to maintain a database than lots of different web pages.

I'm not too sure if I can select another version in the SW update
Mine is the a0Dza model, or are all the samsung notebooks similar to each other?
where would I find the information for my specific model?
would I need to pull apart mine to see if its a combo WLAN / BT card or is it listed somewhere specific?
I checked the Samsung website and its not listed anywhere there
isnt the HWID listed in device manager not enough to identify my specific model? anywhere else I can find what my laptop comes loaded with?
I don't suppose Samsung has something similar to Dell with respect to whats loaded on my specific model?
like a list of all components fitted to my PC, would the local samsung support be able to advise me? -

The specs for your model are here, but that doesn't tell us the WiFi card brand, but you should be able to figure that out from Device Manager or by using HWiNFO. Most likely it is a combo card and probably not Intel since that reduces the manufacturing cost.
If you look near the bottom left of the SW Update screen you will find a button marked "Find Model" which will allow the user to search for any recent model made by Samsung. I suggest you search for NP300E5C-A02ZA. This offers both Windows 7 and Windows 8 drivers and the WiFi driver for the latter is the same version number as for your -A0DZA model. The Bluetooth driver is listed separately. However, I can't explain why there is a choice of two WiFi and Bluetooth drivers. It's as if Samsung shipped the same model with two different WiFi Bluetooth cards. Try the different drivers and see if one sorts out your problem.

My model (NP700Z3A) also has two different Bluetooth and WiFi driver families listed in SW Update, because it came in different configurations, some with Broadcom WiFi/Bluetooth and some with Intel 6230.
Interestingly, that is only true for the Win7 list in SW Update; the Win8 list only contains the Broadcom driver -- presumably because Win8 already has built-in drivers for my Intel 6230. It could be different for other models. -
Is there any way on the samsung website to actually see what type of wi-fi/ BT card I got?
similar to Dell, in that you can see exactly what my unit left the factory with in the first place?
this would help in locating which driver to use, I downloaded the one for the model you recommended.
going to check if it works correctly in the first place, just afraid It will mess up my wi fi settings, as that's what happened last time as well. -

The best way to be sure which WiFi adapter you have is to take the bottom off the computer and look inside.
