Hi everybody,
I would like to ask if anyone knows how to fix this. The function keys for adjusting the brightness don't work. All the others, however, do work. Like volume up, down, mute, touchpad off. It's just the ones for brightness that don't work.
I enabled Adaptive Brightness in the power options, in control panel, but that didn't change anything.
Now, I know the official Samsung Software works, and it would make the function keys work. BUT I don't want to install it, it's very slow, it's ugly, I don't like it.
Does anyone know if there is a way to make those keys work without Samsung Easy Settings?
Thanks

You need the Samsung software to support all the Fn-keys. A few will work just by Windows alone (such as Volume up/down), but brightness, backlight, Silent Mode and others are only supported if you install Easy Settings.
I agree with your concerns about the slowness of Easy Settings. There are tricks you can use to install ONLY the Fn-keys: Google site:notebookreview.com/samsung reduce latencies to find a thread where we discuss that. (I am not at my PC now or I would give you a link).
I recommend you use the newer Easy Settings 2.x which is much better behaved than 1.x. Towards the end of that latencies thread we discuss where to find that. Basically you have to use SW Update to find and save Settings for Win8. Inside is a Win7 folder with Easy Settings 2.x for Win7. -
Then, to disable the horrible default animations of Easy Display Manager you have to go to the installation folder (default C:\Program files\Samsung\Easy Display Manager), and eliminate all the .dll files but leaving just the necessary ones, these are:
Sabi3.dll
SUS.dll
HookDllPS2.dll
That´s all!, Now when you change the screen brightness just the Windows 8 default bar should show up!
I´m sorry if I had any orthographic mistake, but I am not an English native speaker, Hope this information help you  -
Welcome to the forum, rufo_rul. And thank you for sharing that.
I have to add that there is a much simpler and cleaner solution to the brightness problem: Simply download Samsung's SW Update from this link and use it to install Settings.
Settings is the official Samsung control panel for Win8, and includes brightness control as well as support for all the function keys. Easy Display Manager is quite old now, and may not be compatible with all Samsung models.
A new Settings version 2.0.0.49 is out which also helps manage the infamous Adaptive Brightness feature, which has bothered many users. See this post for details.
And finally, SW Update is the only way to obtain new drivers from Samsung nowadays, as they do not update the website anymore. The post linked here provides general advice for Win8 driver installation based on my own NP700Z3A (very similar to the NP700Z5A of this thread).
And no worries, your English is fine
