Can anyone help me with this. I purchased this laptop 2 1/2 weeks ago, and really love it.

I finally got my Netgear Push2TV so that I can use WiDi to connect to my TV.

As the bestbuy.ca website states, it's capable of WiDi. My only problem there's no software that comes with the laptop to "activate" the WiDi. So I went on the intel website, and downloaded the software, and it says there is no "adapter available".

Does this mean that my laptop doesn't have WiDi??

I talked to Samsung customer support = Useless

Called Bestbuy Customer Support = Useless and passed me on to Geek Squad

Then Geek Squad at first said that the laptop might not have it, then he came back and said basically it would work, I just had to configure my router to connect to my laptop, then to the Netgear adapter. I thought that was the point of WiDi, was just to connect directly from my laptop to the Netgear adapter?? They just wanted to send over a guy for $99... (He said that like 5 times)

    So here's my question.

Does anyone know if this model laptop come with WiDi capable chip??

If it does, how do I get it to Activate to connect the WiDi to the Netgear TV Adapter?

Thank you so much for any help, the 3 hours of my life wasted on the phone was dumb.

Look in Device Manager: Is the WiFi adaptor one of the models listed here.

The WiDi feature needs to be activated by the manufacturer. So if you check that the S7 you have has an Intel 6230N, then probably the problem lies with Samsung.

I have the S7 -04US model and upgraded to the Intel 6230 card. My WiDi works fine. I use the D-Link Mainstage adapter.

Oh reminds me. Have you tried the WiDi adapter on another computer?

Ok... so this might be a stupid question...

I check under network adapter, and all I see is a "Broadcom 802.11n network adapter" & a "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" and a couple non WiFi related things... So I obviously don't have the "Intel® Centrino 6230" one...

So I just have to purchase that one, and replace it....

    Damn Bestbuy site was wrong!!

Am I understanding correctly?? And thanks again for the great help. :)

And where did you get yours?? I'm assuming I can just get that on ebay?? Do I just have to search for Intel 6230 card?? And I'm assuming you still have Bluetooth working ok?? And did you get any signal increase with the switch of cards for WiFi??

    Thanks :)

AFAIK, any Intel 6230 WiFi card should work. Samsung doesn't (yet) indulge in unfriendly activities such as whitelisting the components in the BIOS.

The Intel advanced N 6230 wireless card sells for about $20 on Amazon. I would not buy from ebay as there are many fakes on the market.

Yes I have bluetooth working on the Intel card. Just remember to totally uninstall ALL Broadcom drivers and utilities including the Widcomm before installing new Intel drivers.

My signal strength went up a bit and now I can also get wireless on the 5 Ghz frequency which is connecting at 300 Mbps. Unfortunately the connection speeds vary between 150 - 300 Mbps. This may be a function of the router and not the S7.
