Hi guys, got quite a few strange things going on with this laptop.

    1. On windows 8.1, fan is permanently stuck at 100% as soon the BIOS is passed, or when entering the BIOS, the fan goes up to 100%. On windows 8, if i kept closing the lid to put the computer to sleep then after a couple of times the fan would right itself and would only come on occasionally and quietly, or sometimes it would only go down to about half speed (constantly).

    2. On windows 8.1, the CPU is stuck with the maximum frequency throttled at 44% and nothing will change it, I've tried changing the processor power management in the power options to try and stop it throttling and it wont stop it. However bizarrely, again when on Windows 8, closing the lid to put the computer to sleep would generally make the CPU right itself and un-throttle when it came out of sleep. And also it has no logical reason to be throttling because under this load the core temperatures are only 42C & 49C.

    3. On windows 8 & 8.1, the keyboard seems to be almost laggy in its response, if typed on slowly with pauses between keystrokes then every key will register perfectly, but if typed on quickly then it will miss keystrokes all over the place, I'd guess it's a driver fault but updating or uninstalling the device driver (and then rebooting) has no effect.

I've tried changing BIOS's and re-installing windows 8 & 8.1, and things like that but none of them have really fixed any of these problems, especially number 3, this keyboard problem is really annoying and nothing has even remotely fixed it. Would really appreciate the help because I've rather run out of things to try.

    Many thanks for reading.

Go into Settings (Fn + F1) and make sure that Silent Mode is Off and not On or Auto.

Silent Mode locks the CPU down to 800MHz which can make the system relatively unresponsive. And if it is already off, then turn it on and off again.

Afraid that doesn't do anything, silent mode off, rebooted, still locked to 44%.

Yes that seems to work now, However I've yet to get over this problem of the laggy keyboard. Has anyone got any ideas about how this could be fixed?

Just a thought but can you try disabling the touchscreen facility? There should be a digitizer input somewhere in Device Manager.

It was listed as a USB input device but trying disabling or uninstalling the driver for it, stopping the touch screen, doesn't affect the typing.
