    Hi.

I've recently bought a Samsung NC20 and when I use the built in camera the sound it records is very distorted with a nasty "under water" sort of sound.

I have no previous experience of using built in cameras on Samsung (or any other) netbooks, so is this a fault with my NC20, typical of the NC20 or typical of all Samsung netbooks?

I did do a recommended software upgrade for the included capture software but there was no improvement in the distorted sound.

    Cheers.

Did you experiment with the microphone options in the Realtek Sound Manager? (It's in Control Panel).

There is one option for Noise Suppression and another for Acoustic Echo Cancellation.

Thank you for the suggestion John - I'll give that a go tomorrow.

    Cheers.

It seems to be the noise suppression that is the problem. When I turn it off the distortion goes away, but unfortunately a significant amount of static now gets recorded.

Are there any driver updates or other solutions that might help?

    Cheers.
