It makes commercial sense to aim for the niche markets where profit margins are better. However, Samsung need to appreciate that the gaming community are a very demanding crowd and will complain loudly about problems such as throttling. The Notebook 9 customers tend to be a more passive crowd who just want portability and reliability (and judging from the limited discussion on this forum, the recent products have been reasonably trouble-free).

but I would note that experience with AMD GPUs on Samsung notebooks during the past 5 years hasn't been very good.

For the record, the Samsung model number of the Odyssey is NP800G5M (or NT800G5M for the Korean version). Presumably the 17" will be the NP800G7M.

    IT HAS A MATTE SCREEN!!!!

I really want to know how heavy the 15 inch is and also how good the battery life is(is it also 93W like the 17 inch?). Wondering about the speakers....

Edit: Just saw on another thread that the weight is 2.5 KG. The 770Z5e is 2.4 KG, so I think the weight increase isn't that bad.

I have interest in this, specially at odyssey 17. But, MSI GS73VR has much better weight and low height. But odyssey have more deep keystroke keyboard, that seems important to me because I care more about key typing feel.

Aren't MSI machines known for their heat problems in regards to high temps?

Thanks for posting the specs on the 17" model. Looks like it could be a beast. Does anyone know when the 17" model will be available?

I am kind of torn here. While glad to see a Gamers notebook I am not so glad to see it with Windows 10.

Samsung, this is your chance to do it right. Don't mess up with that bga tattooed WiFi nonsense like in the 15" model. What are you thinking?

We know you can do it right so do it.

    You need to offer:

    * FHD, QHD and UHD screen choices.

    * A 7820HK variant. Don't think, just do it. If you want respect in the gaming laptop sector you need to offer an unlocked CPU variant. Especially due to your marketing the whole Hexaflow cooling system. Understood?

    * No Soldered RAM crap... You look to be in the clear there so good...

    * A GTX 1080 variant would earn you massive respect in this sector and don't gimp the TDP like Razer blade pro did with theirs. It's pathetic.

    * Make sure your PSU's are adequate. 330W for the gtx 1080, 240w min. for the gtx 1070 and so on... Don't go cheap here.

    * Offer a bare bones (as close as you can get with the lowest SSD and RAM configuration) in the different models. Don't force us to pay for storage. Many of us already have a Samsung Evo or Pro.

    * Offer a good warranty. Learn from Dell, one of the industries best. Don't be like HP, the industries worst.

    * Make sure you have good build quality. No crazy screen flex, light bleed etc... Do your homework and take note of the flaws on other companies...

    * Make sure you use good thermal paste and thermal pads with good tolerances on the contacts.

This is your chance. Don't fluff it up and be the laughing stock of this gaming laptop sector. Learn from HP Omens joke attempt. Don't do that.

You're already getting heat for the pathetic glued on WiFi. What the flying fluff are you thinking? Seriously. Go slap that idiot who approved that in the face.

You better know the competition and learn from their mistakes as your gtx 1050 15" is going up against the Dell Xps 15 (9560) and alike, which happens to be the best built gtx 1050 rig in its class with it not even being in the class of a gaming laptop. Understood?

Don't let us down. Give us what we want and skip all that gamer boy sissy nonsense.

You don't need to build the gaming line around that fluff. Seriously. Don't. Just be real, practical and be unique in a good way.

    We'll be waiting....

Hmm...yea I see what you mean...

Well I hope this is just their foot in the door in the segment, which it looks to be.

The no throttling is a plus at least, where the XPS suffers from it greatly.

We know they can do it....after all it's Samsung. This is definitely not their primary focus, but with a little more attention they could knock it out of the park for sure.
