Incoming! Due to land with me tomorrow. True its not the newest of sandy bridges but i got for a good price to browse the Internet whilst watching TV, some mild gaming perhaps and also as a media player for 1080p/720p things via HDMI to samsung 40" 1080p LCD TV!

    Spec:

    Intel Core i3-370M (2.4 GHz); nVidia GT 330 1GB, 2GB DDR3; 320GB SATA HDD; 5400 RPM; 14" LED HD; 1366 x 768; 1.3MP; VGA; HDMI; 4x USB 2.0; eSATA; Gigabit Ethernet; 802.11 b/g/n; Windows 7 Professional

Not really found any/many reviews for this unit but it seems pretty robust and well specced for what im paying (£470 inc shipping).

Only thing that doesnt look great is the keyboard which seems old school as opposed to Chiclet or Island style ones...

Is it possible to change to a chiclet from a newer samsung?!

    Reviews to follow tomorrow night!

There is small possibility that Samsung might use some common keyboard sizes if it provides economies in design or manufacture. I always considered the P series to be an equivalent to the R series with glossy parts changed to matte finish. In this case the nearest equivalent to the P480 is probably the R440. However, even if the R440 keyboard is suitable, (i) is it to the style you like and (ii) can you find it at a reasonable price?

yes it sounds good in words.

But how good will the unit be when i recieve it, that is the question!

I like the idea of a Matte display which is typically difficult to get hold of on most notebooks these days. read a review of the R440 getting hot maybe in 1 corner. Hopefully this wont be the same but ah well.

    Recieved it yesterday.

This is a very nice notebook, just the right size but obviously a little thicker than the TimelineX series or whatever.

Screen is great, HD 720P playback great (not tested 1080p yet). Installed latest Verde Nvidia drivers and its all good.

The unit seems to only have 2 exhaust fan area however which is get quite hot (left hand side of unit) under hard usage. Id like to undervolt the CPU but i dont think that this is possible with this unit currently.

Comes with Win 7 pro 64bit and has the restore media for Win 7 pro in the box which is a bonus.
