Could anyone tell me if it comes with nero or lightscribe software as i want to burn a lightscribe disk and make a label.

Also is there a place on the samsung website to update the dvd writer's firmware? or will i have to download them from x-drivers.com sc02

    Hi.

It comes with "CyberLink DVD Suite" not NERO , also comes with "LightScribe Direct Disc Labeling" ,it should be on your driver dvd

The newest DVD-RW firmware i can find is SC01

If you need any other help, just ask.

I have a Q210, but the software should be the same!

    Regards

    John.

    Hi.

just install sc02, I am using an hacked multi-region sc01 , so i will not be upgrading.

You could try GOM player, for playing dvd`s and CDBurnerXP for writing CD-DVD`s

The DVD reading speed on this DVD-RW is quite slow, I wonder if sc02 improves it.

    Regards

    John.

hi thanks, both imgburn and cdburnerxp have been recommended to me, but cdburnerxp looks more like nero so i think i might choose that.

What is the advantages of using multi region stuff, what disks are a diferent region?

    Hi.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code

I have a few region 1 dvd`s that a bought from dvdboxoffice in canada, and they are quite cheap, when the pound was strong, and they have free international shipping.

Vista region lock, you can use free software to bypass it, but dvd-rw is a different matter and you only have 4-5 changes before it locks on the last region.

If you only use region 2 dvd`s stick to sc02, you dont need multi-region

    Regards

    John.

    Hi.

I think you can, by adding the -NOCHECK command when you flash, but i am not certain.

Could not find a way to PC you Fred, so imma ask you here - how do you find the screen on your Q310? Also, have you got any keyboard flex, anywhere?
