    I saw this a few days ago. I've just given it a try (although I don't have Vista). The 22SD file is much larger (1.9MB) than the 05SD (1.1MB) so it clearly contains some extra baggage. This could be a MICOM update (whatever that is).

    BIOS 22SD seems to work with XP (although 5 minutes isn't a thorough test) and I hope that hidden behind the smokescreen of Vista compatibility are some improvements.

    An update: More than a week later and I can't see any ill-effects of the new "Vista" BIOS for the Q35. I'm still running XP Pro - no sign of the Vista upgrade yet.

    Looks like the programmer for the system scanner forgot to divide the result by 1024. This would put the maximum RAM as 3072MB = 3GB. My X60plus gives:

    * Maximum Memory Capacity: 3145728 MB
    * Currently Installed Memory: 2048 MB
    * Available Memory Slots: N.A.
    * Number of Banks: 2
    * Dual Channel Support: N.A.
    * CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
    * CPU Family: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz Model 15, Stepping 6
    * CPU Speed: 1995 MHz

    The default scanner also ran OK under Firefox, contrary to the advice in the browser incompatibility message box!

    I'm not sure when the price of 2GB SODIMMs is going to drop. If/when it happens, I would buy one knowing that it should work in my X60plus but I can also test out my theory for the Q35. That is unlikely to be soon. It might be cheaper to sell off the current Q35 and buy a new one with 1GB on board (this could happen before year end) than to buy a 2GB module.

    In the mean time, try to not have too many applications open at the same time. I also create a fixed size swap file as one of my first actions, so that it is near the fast end of the HDD and doesn't get fragmented.
