has anyone got 1 of these, do they run hot due to their size?

I currently have a 14" dv1049 which I have upgraded myself 1.2gb with an 80 gb HD, the chip is a 1.4 dothan.

will the power of the t2300 blow this away?

sandra says the 2300 is almost 3x faster but i dont believe that.

    Im really tempted

I can't comment on the Q35, but I am basically happy with my X60 which also has the T2300 CPU.

Some of the smaller and lighter notebooks have only a small battery. However, a quick look at the details of the Q35 at http://www.samsungcomputer.com/product/Q35/Q35_feature.htm?SMSESSION=NO suggests that the 6 cell battery for this model sticks out at the back and is not included in the dimensions. Note also that the headline thickness does not include the feet.

The basis for the Sandra benchmark for the T2300 being almost 3 x faster than a P-M 1.4 is (a) each core of the T2300 is almost 50% faster and then there are two of them. You would only see the full benefit of this speed difference if you are doing things that fully load the CPU but, in my experience, the dual cores mean that you get much smoother operation because there is less queuing for CPU time. My T2300 feels significantly faster than the 1.86P-M in my previous notebook, but I am often trying to do several things at once.

I would expect that 7 hours assumes maximum power saving such as having the display on minimum brightness, no wireless, etc. My X60 also has a 6 cell battery and can manage a bit over 3 hours under light load. The Q35 has a smaller display to illuminate and only the Intel integrated graphics, so I would estimate that 50% longer battery life (ie 5 hours) under light usage may be of the right order.
