The touchpad seems to have mysteriously stopped working on my laptop for some reason. Fn+F9 doesn't seem to do anything and it is still showing enabled in the bios. I have tried re-installing all the drivers but no joy..........anyone got any ideas ???
I really don't think this is a hardware problem as it was working fine one minute and not the next really annoying me as I bet its only something simple, any help would be much appreciated

Puzzling... This hardware is normally very reliable.
I suggest you boot from a live Linux CD (you might already have one with a magazine or download from somewhere like Ubuntu) and see if the touchpad works OK (I've had no problems with Linux detecting and install the touchpad).
If it works with a live Linux CD then it is very likely the drivers have got corrupted in Windows. You could try uninstalling the touchpad in Device Manager and letting Windows redetect and reinstall.

Thanks for your reply, I have formatted the hard drive and installed a clean version of xp and vista with all the updated drivers and still had no luck, i'm thinking it's got to be a hardware issue now just wondered if anyone had any ideas
