Thanks, but I already got that from the global download site and put it on.

I also tried the 7.15.11.0108 for the X65 (newer version number but older date) but that caused a Direct 3D error in 3DMark.

More photos! I've got to save some for the review, but here's a couple.

    1. Q70 with X60 on left and Q35 on right. All displays are at same brightness level, so the Q70 is overall brighter than the others.

    2. Left side view of Q70 with Q35 on top. The positions of the ports line up if measured from the back left corner of the computer.

I've been rerunning benchmarks and many are giving better results. Jowever, for me a critical factor is the battery time and in yesterday's test i could not get to 3 hours under light use. Unfortunately, the Q70 has not inherited the Q35's power economy. I will do another test today by preparing the review using the Q70.

Everyone agrees that a wireless card should be in there, but it isn't. What is not clear is whether the card should be agn (which is what it says on the box) or abg. This Q70 is going back because of the missing wireless card. However, I am asking for a refund, not a replacement, because I am looking for something which will give 4+ hours on battery. Maybe the Q70 can achieve this if the GPU power management is sorted, but I don't know if/when that will happen.

Meaning Q70 can avoid the reflectness at better rate is it?

Too bad... so after all.. you will give up the Q70... :) but at least there some review from you tho... meaning more money for you to add to the other model on your list... thanks for the photos tho... I will wait for the full review for the further details and photos...

My review of the Q70 is now in the queue for posting (probably later this week).

While you are waiting, you can read the updated Q70 review at Trusted Reviews. Their findings are very similar to my own. However, I note that their version of the Q70 seems to have the 8400M GS GPU whereas the version (Q70AV02/SUK) currently being sold in the UK has the 8400M G.

My Q70 review has extensive comparison and pictures with the Q35. There are no photos with the R20 which I had only borrowed from DigiUK for the review and then sent back.

A couple of points about the Q70:

    1. Samsung UK's technical support has informed me that the Q70 I received should have had both agn wireless and Bluetooth. At the moment I can't see the Q70 in stock anywhere. Someone is probably checking through a pile of boxes to confirm that the correct communication devices are on board.

    2. Issue 155 of the UK Magazine PC Pro has a brief review of the Q70. To my surprise they have put it on their A list as the recommended mid-range notebook on account of offering a lot of hardware and a very good display. They also identified some irritations include the small right shift key.

That spec shows the 8400M GS and 2.18kg.

The pricing is a bit higher than in UK but includes a 2 year warranty.

I'm pretty sure the price in Germany will come down in a couple of weeks.

The Q45 also started at 1499,- EUR, 3 weeks later it was available for 1299,- EUR.

I don't recall seeing any S-video port on the Q70.

Did you read my Q70 review?

This thread seems to have ground to a halt in July.

Say hi, if you are a Q70 owner! It'd be nice to discuss the Q70 here with other owners. Anyone else out there? I'm awful lonesome!

    Kind regards,

    Virago

It is a long time since somebody posted in this thread.
It seems like there is a white version of the Q70 being released now. I think it looks quite promising.

Thanks for this. The first of the Q70's listed by notebook.de looks to be white.

The white Q70 is also featured on the Samsung Hong Kong site but there's no trace of it in UK.

The 8400M GS would need at least a 9 cell battery in order to run for 6 hours.

Looking at the Q70 it seems like there is quite a lot of space either side of the keyboard. It seems like Samsung are maybe not using a full sized keyboard when they could do. If that is the case then i think that Samsung should really look into that.

See my Q70 review. The Q70 is the Q45 in a bigger casing and with a bigger display. Keyboard and mainboard are the same as the Q45. While it makes sense to share parts to reduce design and production costs, the Q70 has ended up being too much of a compromise. So far, there's no evidence of a new Samsung 13.3".
