I noticed that a Samsung R45 has been recently added to the list at FreeRangePC.

    The specs say
I looked on the Samsung download site and found that that model is more than a year old. The key point is the "15.1". This model is not widescreen.

I guess that the 1.6 is CPU speed, but there's no indication of what type of CPU (possibly Core Duo but might be Celeron), while 256MB, 60GB and a combo drive are specs from more than a year ago. The pricing, at over £600, is also last year's.

So why has this model appeared now? It has XP Pro and is presumably aimed at businesses who do not want Vista or widescreen display. Someone must have found these at the back of a warehouse! Perhaps put away when they couldn't sell them a year ago?

I wondered if it has come from Germany since it has a name. That price at riskfree is before VAT. With VAT ~£650.

Those models are significantly less expensive than the UK prices. Perhaps someone included the cost (parts and labour) of changing the keyboard to UK.
