Spec looks pretty good but I can't find any reviews anywhere. Can anyone venture an opinion or has anyone bought it themselves?

There's a review on notebook check. Its pretty much like the R580. I was hoping Samsung would update the R780 as well, but I don't think they will.

Regarding the chiclet keyboard layout, I was hoping Samsung would move to the R540 layout. I think the chiclet design is still not favoured by all users. Plus I wish they would separate the arrow keys and drop them a little lower, instead of integrating it with the number pad and not having a wider zero key. The R540 is perfect with its layout.

I am also thinking of buying this and although I am a little worried by the bloatware it comes with, and the lack of install discs... I think i will go for it anyway. What could possibly go wrong :)

If it is anything like the R580, I think you will be presently suprised by the LACK of bloatware! I've only uninstalled one app that was pre-installed and kept the little remaining. BTW: It was the MacAfee AV app that was a subscription service! Uukkkk!!!

Wouldn't worry a bit about the no-disc issue. You can always restore from a hidden partition and pretty much pick and choose what you want to restore. Its pretty simple. And you can also create a backup disc of the OS in case you want to do that too! :D

The R780 is the same. I've only removed two things: MacAfee and Office.

Are there any laptops still coming with discs? I haven't heard anyone mention one this year. And creating the recovery discs should be mandatory. If the HDD dies, it's the only way to get going again/
