Hi all,
Not sure if anyone could help, cast some light on the subject. I have an approx. 3 month old Samsung R70. The last week or so I have been picking up the laptop and opening the screen, only for it to turn off! I tested it and it seems that it turns off when the screen reaches a postion that is 90 degrees to the keyboard. It only happens when the screen is being opened, not closed. Thanks in advance for any info!

I think this will need attention under warranty. Possible causes are (i) the switch which can automatically turn the display/computer off when you close the lid is malfunctioning; or (ii) an electrical connection problem.
You can test (i) by changing the lid close action under the power options to nothing. If (ii) is happening then it is most likely the backlight is going off and you will still see a very feint image on the screen.

I am having a problem that can be realted with it, but i am not sure.
The thing is we bought a Samsung R70 laptop in december, yesterday it worked flawlessly, and tomorrow my sister has flown abroad for several months.
When she has tried to boot the computer, she says that the power button is on, the power status light is green ( not blinking ) and that the computer is blank. Some noise is done when the computer is started, but it stops inmediately.
She has tried rebooting the computer several times, putting the recovery CD on ... but the screen has never changed from a blank screen.
Any ideas before we contact the technical service?
Thanks all. -

My first course of action would be to take the cover off the RAM slot and then take out and replace each RAM module (details on how to do this are in the manual - the relevant pages are attached). It is possible that one of the modules has become slightly dislodged during the journey - I have seen the symptoms you describe when changing modules and didn't put one in correctly.
If the computer won't boot with two modules, try each module separately. I did once have a RAM module go bad on me during a flight: It was fine when I used the computer in the departure lounge and wouldn't work after arrival at my destination.
