Hey guys, first post here. I've been lurking around in the forums for awhile now and trying to decide what laptop I should buy. I was in the market for a santa rosa/dx10 compatible laptop (8600GS or GT). I am currently residing in South Korea so the R70 is available. The laptop selection is not great because most Koreans are not power hungry like me, so I only had a choice between a few laptops. This was the only one that fit my budget. Anyways, I picked one up today and ran 3dmark06 on it. With stock drivers I got a result of 2782, which was a lot better than I had expected. I've noticed that in the asus forums one setup with the 8600gs scored a 2032... so just wanted to say that the 8600gs is a lot more powerful than a 2k score.. Lemme know if you guys want more information about the spec, or the settings.

2700-2800 sounds about right. It is the same as in this review:

edit:*** try some new drivers. Also do you want to try some overclocking?

the 2000 score is when running at 1280x1024 I think, that is the standard resolution. You ran the benchmark at 1280x800 because that is the most you can run it at due to the screen.
