I doubt this is a specific problem with the R700. It is more likely the CD or Vista. Vista seems to block the autorun program in some discs.

Can you see the contents of the CD in Explorer? If not, then (i) can you read other discs and (ii) can other computers read that LoTR disc?

If the R700 won't read any disc properly then that is a problem with the R700's optical drive.

If you can see the disc contents in Explorer then look for an executable file such as Autorun.exe or Setup.exe and double-click on it to try to run it. If you are not sure which file to start, view Autorun.inf and see what program is after the command OPEN=.

I quickly Googled and found this, which relates to LoTR and Vista. I don't have any experience of this game to know whether the developers have made a disc where the contents are difficult to see, in order to discourage copying.

    I've also found this:

It may be worthwhile temporarily disabling UAC: Start > Run > msconfig >
    Tools > Disable UAC.

I presume you see / run other discs in the R700?
