I have become one of the many that have had screen problems with the R700. The "famous" screen flicker has come to me now but I think I may have found a solution.
I have done all the updates including bios but this still plagues me until the other day.
While i was getting the strobe effect i held the left hand side of the screen in the middle and pinched it slighlty. Not the screen itself but the black plastic on the outer edge. As soon as I done this the screen went back to its normal screen brightness and was stable. I let go of the edge and it went back to its slight flicker.
I dont know if anybodys other R700 is the same but the LCD lid when opening is very stiff. Now when you open this from the centre and then lift from the edge this puts stress on the outer edges of the screen. I think this is one of the main causes of this problem.
I think possibly the LCD loosens slightly and needs to be held back into place.
I am going to try to attemped to open the LCD and have a look on the back to find any loose conections but does anyone know how to remove the screen as i dont know where to start.

Just to let people know, I got the front plastic frame of the lcd off and removed the lcd. Cleaned behind it and took off the conections and put them back in. All is working fine now. No more flicker !!!
