Ive now had my R780 for 2 months and have to say im very impressed with it except a few issues ive noticed.

    1. I decided to set the Maximum battery charge to 80% to prolong the battery. However when unplugging it my battery will now go down to 70% and then all of a sudden as soon as it hits 70% it then warns me i have 8% left.
Ive recalabrated it but still no joy.Thats even when the brightness is set to as low as it will go and im running it in silent mode.

    2. Connecting wirelessly was fine at 1st but for some reason now for about 5 mins i get the coloured circle over the 5 bars connection icon as if its trying to connect. However when i start up firefox i find i actually am already connected.
Then without hovering over the 5 bars connection icon i get the little box pop up above the icon telling me which Wireless network im connected to.Then this wont go away till i click on the 5 bars connection box.
Just seems strange its only started in the last 2 days.

Seems going onto the samsung website is pointless as theres just no information available for anything.Unlike my old Dell laptop where the support and forum was fantastic.

    Thanks for any info

A number of people have recently been having problems with their wireless adaptors on their Samsung notebooks. See here and here. I wonder if Samsung messed something up in a driver update. Did you try rolling back to an earlier driver?

Point 1: Try and ramp the battery charge to 100% and see if it jumps from 70% to 8%. If it does, you likely have a defective battery. I'd call Samsung and get a replacement battery sent to you as a first level troubleshoot. Hopefully the charging system inside the computer isn't defective which if it is - back it goes to Samsung for repair.

Point 2: If you get the gold star over the bars it just means your wireless lan is operating but you are not connected up to a wireless network. If you connect and it works for a bit and then you get the gold star thingy again, then perhaps you are not close enough to keep the connection alive. I can stay connected even when it goes down to two bars but perhaps one day I'll try and see exactly when it disconnects. This Samsung function is the primary reason I bought it because the R580 has the best wireless (Atheros) device of any in my house. When you match it to a GPS device you get incredible mapping.
