So, I'm new here. Hello!
Anyway, I need to dissasemble a laptop, RC520 or RC710 because the case looks the same (I have an RC520 one though). Mostly because I spilled a drink on the keyboard and now a part of the keyboard has sticky keys. The laptop and the keyboard survived the accident. And also I want to clean the dust.
So I got halfway through, but couldn't fully open it and I don't want to pull the parts too hard so I don't damage them. Searched all over the net, but couldn't find anything about newer samsung dissasembles, and this one opens in a different way than others: first you have to remove the bottom cover and to get to the keyboard you have to tear down EVERYTHING.
So since I saw that this forum is quite active, maybe you guys did a repair on atleast a similar laptop or have other tips for me?![]()

i just googled bothof those, is samsung even offering i7 series laptops? (i have the rc512) which seems older than that, but i didnt even see best buy offer i7 anymore just the i5 i3 models as well.
i was hoping to upgrade to another i7 samsung soon too. (sorry i dont have the answer to your question either) -
I don't really know, mine has the i5. Also, haven't you ever dissasemled your own laptop?

other than replace ram. no. old laptops yeah, but this no. its been fine as is, but seeing so many SSD's its tempting to try to put one in. or il stick a hybrid drive in to replace my hdd
still debating. -
Could it be that the keyboard is soldered to the case? And if you don't know how to dissasemble it, any idea of how to remove the keys?

I had the same problem after spilling some water on my rc520. The short answer is that it appears that the keyboard is attached to the top cover permenantly. So perhaps I'm wrong, but it looked unmoveable.
To take it apart, I unscrewed everything on the bottom, including the screws beneath the rubber feet. You need to take out the battery and the plastic cover over the memory etc. Take out the ODD if you have one. Take out the HDD, too. I also took out the memory in case I knocked it.
After that there are plastic clips the whole way around that hold the bottom cover on. You can see the clips where the battery was and where the ODD was. I started by popping off the back left corner by gently prising with a screw driver. This was the scariest bit. Once you've got some leverage, just carefully make your way around the case, popping the clips as you go.
Once this was off I was sad to see that the keyboard was attached by melted plastic lugs.
Anyone know any good laptop repair places in South London? -

hi
Hi bought an rc520 just under a year ago - great machine but at Christmas the mousepad stopped working but worked fine with a usb mouse. i contacted Samsung who told me to download latest driver - didnt work. then they told me to do a system restore - didnt work either so took it into a Samsung repairer. the cause was a loose connector from mousepad to motherboard - worked fine till last week when it happened again. Contacted Samsung who told me to restore system but i know it wont work and i think the connector has come loose again. im wondering how to take the cover off around the mousepad in order to fix it myself. Any ideas?
