    Hi

I've just got a Samsung RV520, and have been doing a bit of housekeeping on it, getting rid of the stuff I will have no need for.

Anyhow, the Samsung recovery solution 5 that was bundled with the machine auto starts, is there a reason for this, I've not been able to find to much info on it. I'm not looking at removing the program, but would like to stop it from auto starting, this poses an issue in itself as there are no startup entries in msconfig. I've used Ccleaner and Revo Uninstaller to try and find the startup entry but with no success.

So, do I need it to auto start, and if not how do I stop it from starting.

    Cheers in advance.

You could try asking Samsung support.

In the end I uninsalled it, did a little more research and it doesn't affect the hidden recovery partition. I also got a win 7 SP1 recovery disk with the machine so I have this also in case of a disaster so I'm well covered. Pretty pleased by the fact Samsung include recovery media with the machine, big thumbs up there for this.

Seems very strange though that the program auto starts with no option to disable it. I've never come across this and it seems a tad unnecessary as from what I can gather it doesn't do anything in the background.

It is started by the Windows Task Scheduler. Either disable or delete the task "advSRS5"
