    Hey guys,

So I bought a Samsung SSD 840 EVO 1 TB about a year ago. I have done a lot with the drive gaming wise especially modifying games which a lot of the times required fresh installs. I've also had to reinstall the OS a few times. I was very new to the SSD scene but yesterday decided to check my Samsung Magician. So far everything checks out but I have written a total of 16 TB so far according to the Magician.

My question is does anyone know how many TB total that the SSD can take? I feel bad that I wasn't more aware of how SSDs work. I've already moved my games that I have modded and continue to do so onto a secondary hard drive to prevent any further uneeded writing to the SSD.

I've heard 70TB is the low end for modern SSDs and the EVOs are some of the best drives on the market. Just make sure TRIM is enabled and run the magician software from time to time. You can get OC about tweaking these things, but you'll probably have upgraded well before it fails. So, I wouldn't worry about it.

I would assume that the 70TB applies to a lower capacity drive and the 1TB will be good for several times that. There are a few places on the www where people have deliberately thrashed their SSDs to death to see how the performance dropped off (here's one).

If you haven't done so, download and run the Samsung SSD Performance Restoration Tool. It should update the firmware and do some housekeeping. There was an issue of read speeds reducing for files that were several months old.
