Hello everybody, I'm a foreigner please forgive if I do domes mistakes.

I am the happy owner of a Serie 9 np900x3c but unfortunately my screen stopped working 1 week ago for absolutely no reason. After some researches, II found out that the screen couldn't be replaced, due to the glue, and it needed a new Bezel.
I searched for it and I found some on EBay. But the problem is that all the Display Assembly available are whether for NP900x3B or NP900x3D but never for the NP900x3C.
So I would ask you guys if there is a problem to it ? I really know nothing about computer My resolution is 1600x900.
This one is has the same resolution :
13 3" Laptop LCD Assembly Screen for Samsung Series 9 NP900X3D Blue Silver | eBay

And this one is 1920x1080 . If I take this one would be able to upgrade my computer to accept this resolution ?
    13 3" 1920x1080 LCD Display Assembly for Samsung 9 Series NP900X3E NP900X3F Blue | eBay

Thank you all and have a good day !

It is feasible but not easy.

Thank you John for your answer !
Okay so it's difficult to upgrade toward 1920x1080.
But what about the screen with the same resolution (first link) is it feasible ?even if its not the same Serial number ? Or it's the same problem ?

The X3B / X3C / X3D displays should be physically interchangeable (the only difference between B & C is the mainboard) while the X3D is the C without the paint. Because the display unit is thin and glued together it is usually sold as a complete spare part.

You should be able to find the Samsung part numbers using this website. Then searching for those part numbers might reveal some new sources.

However, I would first check that the display cable has not worked loose where it is connected to the mainboard. You need a good Philips size 0 screwdriver to remove the screws from the base of the computer and then need to pull apart the plastic clips on the seam between the hinges.

Did you also check that the rest of the computer is still OK? Using a micro HDMI to HDMI cable plugged into a TV would be the easiest way to check.

Okay, so I checked and the cable is okay . The whole computer is also Ok.
I went to the samsungpart website and unfortunately there is no display for my serial number.
Do you think it will worth the stretch that I buy the display on eBay in 1600x900 or should I give up ?

    Thank you, Ryan

I agree, the Samsung parts website suprisingly doesn't list the display unit.

This listing by one of the Samsung UK service agents shows the part number of the X3B / X3C display is BA96-06016A. However, searching for that part number provides a number of hits some of which state the display resolution is 1366 x 768 (it should be 1600 x 900).

The listing on ebay looks to be the best source. Order the "blue" color, not the silver. I can't see why it will not work. It's probably left over from the original production.

The X3E display is FHD (1920 x 1080) resolution while the X3C is 1600 x 900. To make it work you need to modify the BIOS as discussed in this thread. If you are willing to undertake that modification then the higher resolution may be a welcome upgrade.

The X3B display is the same as the X3C as is also the X3D except that most X3Ds were sold with a bare metal finish so it might look out of place.

If you search around you may find someone selling a used X3C display where a dead computer has been dismantled for sale as spare parts.

Yes there is a serial number : NP900X3D-SBBF-LS
This is the one I ordered on EBay. The resolution is the same as my model 1600x900.
Do you know what is the problem and if there is a solution ?

    Thank

The only other problem that can cause vertical banding is the display connector. You can try closely comparing the plug for the old display with the new one.

If they look identical then you can ask the supplier to reconfirm that the display is the advertised 1600 x 900 for the X3D and not 1920 x 1080 for the X3E / X3F. I wonder if they got confused.

    John

PS: A further thought: Make a bootable Linux CD / flash drive and see if it can recognise the display as mentioned in this thread. That might be a way to confirm the resolution and panel type.

There are plenty of Linux flavours that come as a downloadable .iso file that you can burn onto a CD which you then boot from and it loads Linux into RAM without changing anything you have on the HDD / SSD. Here's a long list. The person in the other recent thread about swapping displays used Linux Mint.
