    Hi Guys

I was running the SW Update of me Laptop's BIOS update, during the update the previous was removed then when it went to update the new one, the laptop crashed and I had to use the battery cut out device to power off the laptop. I then tried to power up after leaving it for at least an hour and performed the task of holding down the power button and then using the AC adapter went to power up the laptop and since then it has not switched on since. when I plug in the AC Adapter the battery indicator flashed green and red and that is as much that happens. I have tried all the manual and read several posts on here but none appear to match my problem. I'm not a newbie tech wise but this is the first time I have played with an ultrabook and I just cannot seem to find and way of resetting the battery and powering up the laptop. I know it's not a hardware issue as it's only 7 months old and I regularly use my diagnostic program to check all parts are functioning correctly. Is anybody out there that might have some advice. Thanks in advance.

You aren't the first to encounter such problems although there haven't been many recently.

You can read through http://forum.notebookreview.com/samsung/698094-samsung-bios-update-problems.html and http://forum.notebookreview.com/samsung/706510-samsung-laptops-bricked-using-uefi.html.

However, if I understand you correctly the progress dialog in the BIOS updater showed it had erased the previous BIOS but then failed to write the new one. In this case there would be no bootable BIOS and you will need to contact Samsung to replace the motherboard.

    Hi John

Thanks for your info and yes you're 100% spot on, will send the laptop back to Samsung as still under warranty. I was hoping I could resolve it myself but will allow Samsung to replace the motherboard. What I will do in future is hold back from updating the BIOS until 'm sure it's safe to do so.

As you will see from the BIOS Update thread, I recommend using the stand-alone BIOS Update program so there fewer potential obstacles between the updater and the BIOS. However, people only learn about that method after they hit a problem since Samsung now pushes everything through SW Update.
