Does anyone know anything about the samsung series 2/4/6? They were supposed to be available by now but are not. I wonder if samsung is still planning to sell them.

If they ever do, does samsung allow you to customize notebooks when you buy them? From their website, it seems you can only buy their laptops pre-configured from other retailers.

I may be interested to buy the samsung series 6, 14 inch, over the thinkpad t420s. What do you think?

While this site gives some broad specs, we won't know how it compares with the other business notebooks until more info is available. My initial impression is that it is more likely to be an alternative to the T420 than the T420s. The key considerations would, IMO, be whether (i) the weight with a decent 6 cell battery and optical drive is below 2kg and (ii) whether it has a better 14" 1600 x 900 display than is offered by Lenovo (or Dell, for that matter). Specs for the 14" 4 series are on the Samsung UK site so that's a sign of something happening.

Samsung's old X series were well-built notebooks so they have the capability to create something attractive (as also demonstrated by the 9 series) but they also need to improve their support network. It will also be interesting to see if they allow purchasers to do on-line configurations and get their orders directly shipped from the factory.
