    Samsung Series 7 Chronos (NP700Z4 & NP700Z5) and ICC profile

    Definitely the screen in the Samsung Series 7 "Chronos" (NP700Z4 & NP700Z5) is more than decent, but still need a little tweaking of colors to get the best performance of the panel. Many people in this forum has access to screen color-calibration hardware such Spyder 3 or similar. I would refer to the altruism of anyone who has been successfully calibrate the screen under Win7 and does not mind sharing the ICC profile obtained. Many colleagues of this forum will appreciate this gesture forever ;).

    UPDATE: an easy formula to quickly enhance the color quality of your SS7C panel:

    go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color
    Overwrite default "Samsung Series 7.icm" by the custom version of the file you can find in this thread.

    Control Panel> Color Management> Device: Generic PnP Monitor
    Add ICC profile: "Samsung Series 7.icm"
    Set as Default Profile
    Close

    Easy Setting>Display
    Set display color to ¨Sharp¨

    How do I use this icc file? Do I need the Spyder software to use it? If not, where do I drag the file I just downloaded?

    Double click on the downloaded profile/ Right click and click Install Profile. Then, go Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Screen Resolution>Advanced Settings> Color Management. Click on Color Management, then check the box that says Use my settings for this device, then click add profile. From there, you can add the custom icc profile, or even calibrate one through windows.

    @ midgetdiablo: Near perfect calibration. Increased a little gamma and it's really nice now. Great job!

    Run msconfig.exe, got to Startup, and disable Intel igfxpers.exe. Then reboot and reapply the profile.

    It's listed as intel something, pull over the target tab to see which is the igfxper.exe

    Note that it is "igfxper s.exe". One way to disable it is to search the C drive for the file and then change the name (eg to igfxpers.ex).

    Rename the igfxpers.exe to something else (ex. igfxpers_backup.exe).

    I have done this. Then I went into easy settings and changed display to 'no effect' - rebooted. Reapplied profile. Still no change, looks exactly the same

    Go to - Advanced > change system default (not sure that is right in english) > advanced > tick "use windows calibration", then your profile should be changed

    After that, untick "use windows calibration" otherwise it will change back.
    Got to love windows..

    Edit: Add the profile in the system default also.

    Yep got it to work by ticking and unticking the box. It's a definite improvement over 'no effect' in easy settings, but to be honest I prefer easy settings 'standard' for normal use, which switches to easy settings 'movie' by itself when watching something... I've noticed that the 'movie' setting allows you to see a lot more detail than the custom icc profile

    it will switch from ´no effect´ with icc profile to ´movie´ as well. the icc profile is perfect.

    I believe that MovieColorEnhancer.exe is responsible for switching to movie mode. You can disable the startup of MovieColorEnhancer in the task scheduler.

    Can anyone help out here? It seems like unchecking igfxpers.exe has worked for a lotta people but as you can see here, it doesn't show up. My color settings reset everytime I plug in a usb device and when i play games. it's pretty frustrating :(

    wow. i love you. that totally fixed my problem! :D ahahahahahaha all i needed to do was set the ICC profile up as the system default. :D YAYYYY Thanks

    Edit: Wow, i just realized all my changes should have been done for the system default... :p

    Arg..Sorry for spamming, but adding the icc profile to system defaults didnt't really help. It reverts back to crappy washed out colors after gaming. And yes, I did add the ICC profile and check the "Use my settings" box. :(

    In Easy Settings, remember to recheck the 'standard' colour for the Display tab. It takes a few seconds to switch for no effect to Standard every time the windows are re-sized BTW.

    o_O i'm kinda confused. i thought using color management settings would make it so you wouldnt need to deal with the Display setting in Easy Settings.

    My main problem is that whenever I insert a device into a USB or if I play games, colors shift from the S7 ICM profile back to the "No Effect' color profile in Easy Settings.

    If you don't check the standard colour, then the bluish no effect tone will be applied by Samsung Easy Settings every time you finish a game or plug in USB.

    It's funny that 'no effect' results in the strange blueish tone. What is the reason for that? On other laptops from other manufacturers, there is no easy settings app equivalent, yet there is no blueish tone either. Is there some way to prevent the blueish tone from being the default?

    And did you mean that it takes a few seconds to switch from crappy colors to the S7 icm?

    I added the icc profile and it has definitely improved the overall quality.

    One question, though: What is the ideal color setting on the Display tab in Easy Settings, i.e. Standard, Sharp etc.?

    The 'Sharp' setting seems a bit more vibrant than the 'Standard', but the blue in Easy Settings becomes sort of turquoise. I'm not really great at judging colors so I don't really know what is intended.

    It seems that games (and other full screen applications) overrides the ICC profile and use the default settings. Is there any easy way to force them to use the selected ICC profile?

    BTW, this isn't a Samsung or AMD issue, it's a Windows issue as far as what I've understood from some fast research.

    hmm crap seem like a lot of issues with the screen...

    went to look at unit in store yday and the screen kinda does suck compare to a good screen. it's just doesn't pop in brightness or contrast and if you are off angle forget it...

    i hate glossy but this unit is sub-par. i even took my 2006 macboopk pro to compare and even the salesman said my OLD laptop looked better (win7 sample pic).
