Hello everyone, I am new here and I hope someone can help me solve this annoying issue.

I have been searching for this problem for quiete a long time now but didn't find any solution yet. I came across this forum because there's a related topic where the problem was solved and it was to do with a samsung as well. Unfortunately the solution on that topic didn't work for me(maybe because I have a different model)

So, basically the issue is that the keyboard backlight are not working, they are not switched on at all and I can't use the keyboard fn keys to increase the brightness.
Other fn keys (eg fan, switching on/off the wifi etc) are not working either but I'd like the backlit keyboard to work at least as I find it very hard to use it in the dark.

    Thank you

Google "site:notebookreview.com Series 7 Linux backlight" and you may find more discussion of this. The poster here indicates that the backlight is working in auto mode. You should check in the BIOS for options.

This thread about the Fn keys may also be relevant. In Windows Samsung use a driver (dmhkcore.exe) that is included in the (Easy) Settings package.

    THank you

I have already been through the topics shown by typing the string that you have suggested in Google; the problem with those topics is that their solution is outdate or incompatible with my laptop model.

The first link talks about auto mode, but I don't see any automode on my laptop and don't know how to activate it.
THe second link mentions fn keys but it also states that only the f2 through f8 work, the fn combination for the backlight is f9-f10 so unfortunately it doesn't provide any solution for that.
