Hi guys,
I've recently purchased A series 7 notebook (2012 model) and things were going fine until I realise I can't play any kind of games on the machine as I get the Nvidia infamous nvlddmkm.sys stop 0x116 BSOD whenever I boot up anything that utilises the graphics hardware.
It happens within seconds of booting anything.
I've looked into the error and tried various fixes such as newest drivers, old drivers, even omega drivers, extracting the Nvlddmkm.sy_ manually etc but the problem persists. Windows is fully updated (Preinstalled Windows 7 Home premium 64bit).
The only thing I can think of now is to try a different version of Windows. I'm going to try putting Windows 8 on it tonight.
Other than that I can only imagine it being a hardware error.
I tried to run a GPU memory test but it crashed a while in, perhaps because it encountered faulty hardware.
Doesn't sound very normal but my idle temperatures on high performance mode are around 70degrees C.
This is a brand new machine that I imported from the US as I was desperate for a Samsung machine having had a good experience with my previous laptop for years.
I live in Japan where for some reason Samsung notebooks are not sold.
It seems this is the price you pay for brand loyalty..
The obvious answer would be to RMA the device but I will have to ship the laptop out to a neighboring country's service centre, incurring shipping fees and import tax AGAIN.
Any thoughts or ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance.

Idle temperature of 70C is high unless the system is not properly idle (less than about 3% CPU usage as shown on the Processes tab in Task Manager.
I suggest you install HWiNFO, enable sensors and set it to write a log file every few seconds. Then put the CPU / GPU to work. Even if the computer crashes you will be able to read the log file and see what the temperatures were doing. If the data confirm that the CPU / GPU are running hot then you should check whether the fans are blowing out plenty of hot air when the system is under load. If the fans are running fast but the air is not very hot then the likely cause is a poorly mounted heat sink so the heat isn't getting conducted away. This is a relatively easy fix.
