Are there any projected release dates for the new Series 5 laptops using the Ivy Bridge processors?

I was considering buying a Series 7 within the week but if there's going to be an updated release within these few months, I'd rather wait.

$1800 is a bit steep, but I think that the laptop will be upgraded to ivy bridge processors and new graphics before release.

The orange color and lights look really gaudy imo. Shoulda stayed with the aluminum understated look like their other series 7 laptops.

My guess is that Ivy Bridge models won't become abundant for another 6 months. IIRC, Sandy Bridge hardware was shown at last year's CES and became widely available during the following 3 months. However, the main focus at this year's CES is the Ultrabook platform.

The other possible factor that may affect new model release is Windows 8 which is meant to arrive this year. We wait to see whether manufacturers hold back new models to wait for Windows 8 or maybe they, plus Microso$t, will look to Windows 8 as a way to make a further boost to sales a few months after the Ivy Bridge products have been launched.

Finally, a laptop at CES that interest me. I'm really not impressed with the "ultrabooks".

Can anyone confirm that this laptop is 3D? It says that it has a 3D screen, but I thought that 6970 and 6990 cannot have 3D... that only Nvidia can have 3d capable laptops.

I read on a site yesterday, that the latest version of the laptop is supposed to have a NVIDIA 675m. If that's true it should have 3D capability.

The orange paint will give you at least an extra 10 FPS, right?

Would there be any way to transplant displays like laptops in these? Like say you found some IPS panel or a 1920x1200 panel and you wanted that instead?

My top college lappies as of now are this or the p330. :]

I like it. It runs everything I throw at it.

It's fast, it gets hot during intensive gaming but I don't feel that it needs an external cooler. I'm running it overclocked with ATI Catalyst without any problems.

Keyboard is nice although I can kinda feel a bit of flexing going on near the wasd keys area.

The speakers are pretty good for laptop speakers although bassheads should probably get some external speakers.

DPC latency is good enough for music production once you switch off the wifi.

Been searching around in Singapore for the Samsung Series 7 Gamer Laptop, but can't seem to find it online!

Recently ordered an Alienware x51 from Dell and after struggling (and having the wireless card replaced twice), it still fails me. The HDD and keyboard (Tact X) is problematic as well. Dell has finally agreed to refund me(some struggles in it as i need to pay $60 for shipping and handling despite them giving me a "non-working machine".

And since i had the Alienware since May, i threw all the boxes away. Now i need to pack it either in its original boxing or equivalent, for the return. ugh.

ANYWAY, after much digressing, was hoping to get another "gaming machine" after i get my refund from Dell!

Was looking at either this (Samsung Series 7 Gamer) or the new Macbook Pro!
imac kinda catches my eye too...

But, till i get some hands-on on this Gamer laptop before i decide!

    Any advice? :)
