What's the matter? We knew from the beginning the 14" would have the 6490M. We still need to find out what the 15" will be available with however.

eh 6490m is to be expected considering its really a 13" chassis. thats actually a decent card seeing how most 13" have intel IGPU. really the only thin and light 13" I can think of with a better GPU is the old sony SZ and current Sony SA.

Any more Reviews on the Laptop? Please someone with the laptop make a VIDEO REVIEW of the unit???? That would help me decide if the High End is worth it. The Reason I believe that this laptop interests me so much is because I haven't seen any pc laptops with these:

    6750 GPU Quad Core
    Extremely attractive aluminum design
    9 Hour Battery
    Matte Screen

....All in a package less than 1 inch thick. I use my Sony Vaio with a 4650 card right now and I got it instead of the Macbook Pro (huge Mistake). My only problems with it have been Terrible Battery life, plastic design, gets way too hot, and a tad slower. If I can play MW2 at full setting on this card with a 1600x900 resolution, I can't wait to see what this samsung can do.

    (sure this was already posted, but here is the 14 inch from bestbuy Samsung - Laptop / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 14" Display / 6GB Memory - Silver - NP700Z3A-S01US

Weird thing is that it says its only .9 inches thin! Thats crazy, unless they are just rounding LOL

For some reason they could only charge the battery to 80% capacity.

The test I linked says the 15.6" is 24 mm(they measured it themselves), and that's about .9" if I'm not mistaken

I Think thats incredible. You have any more Reviews? Def getting the better version. Even if this laptop ( the highend) was $1,500 I would still get it. Its a great deal. And Samsung has super high reviewer ratings.

Charging to 80% capacity is the feature that makes it last for more charges. Batteries degrade much faster when fully charged.

I returned the Best Buy series 7. It did say 300nit on the box. Im thinking it's the same screen. Im keeping the XPS 17. The best buy unit isn't worth the price IMHO. I also have a Inspiron 17r with i7-2630qm that out performs the BB 7 except in gaming (no graphics). Not sure why Samsung doesnt have a switchable FN key. I feel the 17R has a better screen than the BB 7, lot more color and seems sharper, but im comparing glossy to matte. The 7 was brighter but colors seemed washed out. The vid card in the bb 7 isnt much better than the intel graphics. My advise is to hold off on the BB 7, just isnt worth the money. I hope the regular 7's have a different screen but i doubt it.

Thanks for your thoughts. It is a little disheartening that it did mention 300-nit on the box of your BestBuy unit. That likely means that we'll have the same screen from other retailers as Samsung was mainly pushing the brightness aspect of the screen rather than color reproduction or viewing angles.

Oh well, I still need more reviews to convince me to look elsewhere. I have an XPS m1530 and no laptop since then has really brought out the wow in me (besides Apple, but their pricing also gets me the undesired 'Oww!').

hey guys was at my best buy in doral today and they had one in the back and let me use it for a few minutes. Overall the laptop is nice feels pretty smooth and sturdy. The palm rests "feel" aluminum or some kind of metal mesh.

The main issue is the screen, for one I'm not a big fan of matte and most important it is really really dim at max brightness. I mean really dim. That was the killer for me. If it have a better screen and some kind of thin glass and brighter I would buy it no problems but the screen from the best buy are not good. I would say do not buy unless you don't really care for bright ness.

I have one I bought from a BB near Baltimore and it does indeed say 300nit on the box. However, I'm not sure why everyone thinks the screen is so dim. I'm not sure what you're comparing it to. I think it looks fantastic. The contrast is nice. Its brighter than my m17x 3's 1600x900 17" screen.

One thing I did notice is that the brightness keys did not work for me until Windows was fully booted. Any chance you were not actually change the brightness from the default?

I was with the computer for a very brief amount of time. I remember it was in windows and I held the FN key and tried to adjust the brightness and it didn't do anything. So I assumed it was at the max, maybe it was not and the store is bright anyway.

But I have a RGB 1080p screen on xps 16 and I'm used to that brightness I guess. I'm not saying the screen was horrible on anything I'm just used to brighter I guess. I should of tried to play with the brightness more.

When you adjust the brightness do you see anything onscreen that lets you know what level you are at? I didn't see anything on screen.

Yes, once you're in Windows, you'll get an OSD display showing the brightness level, so you probably weren't max.

It certainly won't match an RGB on that XPS, thats a top of the line screen. But compared to the average lousy screens on most laptops, I think its much nicer.

This was from Samsung's Notebook facebook page and rep say this.
"We're pleased to inform that the SERIES 7 CHRONOS will be released in the USA early October from Best Buy retailer. Please note that the release date for other retailers is expected early November. We hope this helps!"
    Wow, that sounds extremely crappy.

I've been reading on this page for a while and everyone had me convinced I wasn't getting this computer. All the negativity toward the screen really turned me off to it. I went into best buy tonight to see if I really was gonna hate it too. I love it!!! The screen is not as bad as ppl on here make it out to be. I currently have an envy(no radiance display) I have also seen the xps 15z, mb pros, alienwares-11 and 14, and many other computers. My brother kind of has a computer buying problem. The screen is not the most important thing in the world to me. And this screen is completely acceptable. So, in summary...As soon as one comes out with a backlit keyboard and better graphics, I will be buying it. Just trying to help out people like me because this forum made me believe I wouldn't like this computer. I almost didn't even go check it out. I am glad I did.
    Random observations....
It is also much darker than the pics online make it out to be. -Gunmetal grey
Doesn't remind me of a mbp like I thought it would(which I'm grateful for cause I'm not an apple fan)
Loved the feel of the envy because it felt better built than any other computer I have ever owned. This has a very solid feel to it too!
    Huge trackpad, which I love.
    Ok, that's it.

Precisely. The Series 7 Chronos is a shot at the MacBook Pro; the Series 7 Gamer is two-inch-thick beast of a machine that's a shot at the Alienware M17x and the Sager NP8130. I'm actually surprised that Samsung attached the same "Series 7" name to both the Chronos and the Gamer, as they're such fundamentally different laptops.

84 pages even before a single 14" has been delivered. This thread is getting big.

    I'm considering making a separate 14" thread. We'll keep this thread for 15" - 15.6".

If you think this is not a good idea send me a PM and tell me why.

Ah okay, upon talking to the CompUSA agent it would seem that model is confirmed to have both i7 and 6750M. Here is what he said:

    Pre-ordered!

@ nCode: Both of the agents I talked to had no idea when the model would be in stock, but I chatted with them online and it seemed you called, so let's all hope you are right!
