Full HD 1080p 17.3" screen in a ___ inch chassis (300nits)
NVIDIA GT650M 2GB graphics as shown on the glass specs panel beside (Some say it's wrong)
64GB SSD + 1TB HDD option
Backlit keyboard with sensor
Note that the set on display had a full aluminium finish, palmrest included. Noteworthy to include that the top where the speakers are - Samsung has replaced it with a plastic grill for the JBL speakers.
If it's really NVIDIA graphics in the 17.3", it may spell trouble for us 13-15.6" owners.
Let the discussion begin!

Darn it they released this earlier I would had brought this instead.

Im wonder how the FHD panel works. If it is better than HD+ then i can only cry they put such a bad thing to the 15-15,6.
-
The 17.3" looks like it has a thicker bezel.

Newbie question... but does this laptop run on windows 7?
-
-
^^ thanks.
I thought it ran some google OS but I'm glad it can run windows.
I'm fine with home edition. So by default it comes with windows 7 and not some other OS?
Also, do you know how much this will cost?
Thanks in advance! -
Well I have a feeling it might run Home Premium for lowest model.
According the webpages posted starting at 1,500 bucks which is quite good for that kind of notebook. -
Thanks for the help! -
I have a hunch the unnamed one will be an np700z7a. It looks like the other np700z computers

You guys do not need the mobility? The reason why I bought the 15.6" is that it is lighter than most 14 inchers while having a balanced config.
-
The 17.3" non-gaming edition laptop looks good. Any more information on the release date, specs, etc?

I noticed this not sure if this is true a samsung 17 inch Ivy Bridge laptop shipping in 1-2 weeks? This must be a mistake

But i'm skeptical, if it's true this would be really nice. I want to some true benchmarks of Ivy Bridge. -
-
Maybe I should started another thread, I wasn't actually paying attention to the model. I was really just referring to the fact that a IVY BRIDGE notebook would be shipping in 1-2 weeks, When from everything I read/heard they won't be available until April I think. -
Man, I hope the price for the 17in laptop isn't true. 2k is way too expensive.

-
Any more news or info on the non-gaming one? I fell in love with it, unfortunately I can't say the same for the gaming one. I'd love for the non-gaming to have at least a decent gpu. A Radeon 6950M or 6870M perhaps would be nice. I looked around the web and some are stating that the gaming will have a 6970m others have said Nvidia GT650. However, I have my doubts on the GT650 I did a quick search and it's like that card doesn't exists.

Down to the end, I want good build quality not some attempt to wow the consumers and end up having some build issues. -
Anything new on this laptop?

Looks like Intel is playing the Montenvina game again.
Looks like most laptops are to be postponed???

Intel to postpone mass shipments of Ivy Bridge processors -
TheBluePill Notebook Nobel Laureate
Ivy Bridge will be 30-60 days late for Mass Market Laptops due to Sandy Bridge inventory. The Processors WILL be shipping in limited quantities though.
This says two things to me;
Sandy Bridge Inventories are too high and we will probably see a "fire sale" on them through June.
The Ivy Bridge parts hitting the market will likely be in the higher-margin, high-end / expensive PCs First, which is a common industry practice to recoup costs on new generation hardware.
Now, nVidia is having yeild issues on the 28nm process, but AMD is not. I would say we will see Ivy Bridge Machines with AMD graphics hitting the streets in Early April in the $1K+ categories.
You will then start to see the sub $1k offerings hit the streets as the sandy bridge parts dry up. -

Anyone notice that they said the new 17" will have BD 9.5mm? I hope that would be a slot-load, which means we can find that part online and replace the current slot-load DVD with that.

I believe that this thread is effectively superseded by another one about the NP700G7.

Also superseded by the following on the Chronos, which is the NP700Z7
