    Hey guys/gals,

I was unable to find a similar thread, so I'm not sure if this is a new problem or anything. I am not concerned about my data on the laptop, as I regularly back everything up.

I purchased my NP700Z5A-S03 last November. I've never had any issues, but today I powered off my laptop to install some Windows 7 updates. Upon trying to restart, the screen was black with a flashing underscore (_). I tried typing, but nothing worked. I restarted my computer, and I had the same issue.

However, I am still able to access BIOS and Samsung Recovery Solution. I tried a complete and partial recovery but no luck.

    Ideas?

HDD / SSD problem? Maybe the boot sector is corrupted or maybe the drive has died. I would take out the drive and put it into an external USB enclosure and see if I read the drive when connected to another computer. If so, the priority is to back up the personal data. After which the drive can go back into the computer and see if it can be rapaired using the Windows disc.
