    Samsung Series 7 Ultra Notebook - no brightness control (if I update Windows10)

    Hello

    My Samsung Series 7 Ultra Notebook (NP740U3E-S04UK) loses it's screen brightness control if I install Windows 10 version 1909 (November 2019) or greater. What should I do?

    i.e. If I allow Windows 10 (x64) to upgrade past version 1809 - from October 2018 - then Fn/F2 and Fn/F3 will no longer make the screen brighter or dimmer.

    e.g. Windows version 1909 - from November 2019 - doesn't work.

    And I don't think Windows the latest version "20H4" - October 2020 - works either. I tried that just before I reinstalled windows 10 from scratch.

    Background
    I have just had do re install Windows 10 (x64) from scratch. I am nervous of leaving my PC with a version of Windows 10 that is over 2 years out-of-date.

    Btw, my laptop NP740U3E-S04UK came with a built-in graphics card: AMD Radeon™ HD 8570M graphics card with 1GB gDDR3 Graphic Memory

    Any suggestions?

    A good tip - thank you so much John.

    After a VERY long battle I seem to have fixed the problem.
    It seems that although the PC says (in Task Manager) that it is using the AMD Radeon driver, it turns out that Intel HD 4000 is being used too. And the I must not have Intel Driver
    10.18.10.42 52 installed, whereas the previous Intel driver
    10.18.10.42 42
    works just fine. IF you can find it. I couldn't. Not there in Device Manager's "rollback"

    Eventually I managed to somehow get a this Intel driver working instead:
    10.18.10.42 76

    But WHY it failed to install itself earlier, even after I had installed and run the Intel auto update driver utility more than once, I have no idea.

    Shame on both AMD and Intel and on Samsung for abandoning Samsung Update on a 6 yearold computer. In particular DEEP shame on AMD, because if you run their autoupdate utility and/or follow all their instructions, you end up installing something called Adrenalin, which totally locks up your computer and makes it impossible to boot. In case I had re-install Windows.

    I estimate only 1 in 10,000 users would waste as much time on this as I have.

    The rest would probably never buy Samsung ever again.
