    This is a mess. :(

So, Bought this laptop a few years ago from Best Buy. A complete wipe was done and a fresh copy of Windows 7 Home was installed. Never had any issues with the laptop since then. Fast forward a few years later.

    Samsung NP700Z5C-S02UB is the model.

They keyboard backlight wasn't coming on, and the function keys weren't responding with using the FN key, plus F-xx key. I went on Samsung support website and saw there was an update SWUpdate. I downloaded it, ran it. It showed a handful of updates were available. I went ahead and started that process.

It started with the BIOS update. Everything went well, finished, and restarted. Well, Now it doesn't boot into Windows at all. A message just appears on the top of the screen that reads:

All boot options are tried. Press (F4) key to recover with factory Image using Recovery or any other keys for next boot loop iteration

Well, there isn't any recovery, and it just returns to this screen if I hit any other key. If I put a Windows 7 CD in the drive, it will boot to that, but hangs when it gets to the Starting Windows splash screen.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Originally this was a W8 machine so by default the EUFI is most likely enabled . A W7 disk will not work at first you need to do W8.

Early versions of this notebook might have been shipped with Windows 7 in which case try disabling UEFI in the BIOS. I wouldn't put it past Samsung to have changed the UEFI setting during a BIOS update. Tapping F1, F2 or F12 (I can't remember which) a few times immediately after starting the notebook should get you into the BIOS setup.

I was going off the OP's earlier posts where they had claimed it was originally a W8 machine. Not sure how to get to bios on these though.

I was able to get to the BIOS and UEFI secure boot was already disabled. It was showing Win8 for certs. I dug a little deeper and saw the other Secure Boot option. I disabled it and changed it from UEFI OS to CMS OS, and....... wait for it..... lol

It booted right into Win7!! The update program is now continuing to install all the other updates.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had already unpacked my backup laptop to put the hdd from the Sammy in it so I could try and retrieve my wifes' work data. Now I don't have to.

    Again, thanks for the replies.

I was not sure you could get to it but being as it was a W8 UEFI machine I knew you needed to get there. Glad to hear all is well.

Yeah, I saw it earlier, but didn't think about that being the key. I'm glad too. My wife was already looking for a MacBook lol.
