I haven't been able to find much online about this unit. Anyone have one and care to enlighten me or steer me clear if its a train wreck?

It doesn't look bad on paper. 1366x768 ultrabright display, about 2lbs, up to 7hrs on battery (but no real world info i can find) sandybridge i3 processor. 128gb ssd, 4gb ram.

The first gen Series 9 machines were plagued with WIFI issues. I would not consider one for that reason.

I'm not sure of the differences between the X1A and the X1B but this X1A thread may be of use.
