    Hi

I have connected a 2nd monitor to the laptop
BUT - can ONLY get it to show the same image on the monitor as it does on the laptop.

I want to use the monitor to extend the desktop - but i can not get an option up for it -

Using the settings tab in properties - it only shows 1 monitor and does not acknowledge that i have connected a 2nd monitor to the laptop - EVEN though - the laptop is definitely outputting to the 2nd monitor because i have an identical image on it.

    Any advice or solutions???

    Thanks

    Two thoughts:

    1. Did you try booting with the monitor attached. On older notebooks the external display could only be properly detected on boot up.

    2. Fn+ F4? (might be another key) may step you around various display options.
