    Hi,

I recently updated my bios and now my laptop wont boot.

I'm getting to the constant "press f4 to recover screen" and that just loops the laptop over and over again.

The bios indicates that "SATA port 1 is not installed"

I have tried putting in a new ssd but it still doesn't pick the ssd up. I have also completed the technique where we disconnect everything but it still the same.

The bios version at the moment is P05 ACJ

I have also tried the CSM OS and turned off secure boot but it still wont boot.

    Hi Vishalpatel84, welcome to NBR.

There are numerous reasons why a computer may not boot. Please tell us in your own words what happened and what you tried, including details such as original Windows version, any Windows updates or clean installs you performed, whether you updated your BIOS and/or SSD firmware, and whether any BIOS settings were changed. Also whether you tried changing the actual SSD such as the original poster in this thread.

With that information we're much more likely to be able to help.

You can also check the Boot and Bricking Problems section in the Sticky List on top of the Samsung forum.

I have the same model laptop as the OP. It is a Samsung NP940X3G-K04US. I received it from my dad. He told me that when he turns it on, that he gets an "All boot options are tried" error. I go into the BIOS and turned of secure and fast boot. but that didn't seem to help. so i also tried to go into Recovery mode, but it loops me back to the original error.

I am in the process of getting a new SSD to see if that is the problem, but any other help would be appreciated.

Thank you for that additional information.

It is good that you are able to get into BIOS -- some people cannot go there, which is a sign of more serious trouble.

We don't know at this point if the SSD has gone defective or it is some other issue.

I suggest you reset BIOS settings to default (F9 in BIOS), save and reboot. Then go back into BIOS settings, and check what shows up on the Boot Priority page.

While in BIOS settings, disable Fast BIOS/Fast Boot again to make it easier to boot an external device in case something goes wrong. Once everything is running, you can re-enable it to save a little boot time.

Also while in BIOS settings, check OS Mode Selection. You may have to disable SecureBoot to get to it. Once everything is running, you can re-enable SecureBoot to protect against some malware.

This laptop was probably delivered with Win8, possibly 8.1, which means it was installed in UEFI mode ( OS Mode Selection=UEFI OS). Unless someone re-installed Windows in CSM mode you should NOT change to CSM OS as was suggested by the original poster, as that will prevent booting.

However, you can temporarily choose OS Mode Selection=UEFI & CSM OS while we diagnose the problem.

Let us know if resetting BIOS settings makes a difference, and we'll take it from there.

    Hi,

Thank you for the steps above, they helped. I am now trying to reformat the hard drive because my dad has to much junk, but i can't see the USB HDD in the Boot Option in the bios. I have Windows 8.1 on a USB stick using Windows USB/DVD Tool.

Actually, i figured it out. I had to disabled the boot options and it loaded the USB Drive, once i did that i exited the windows set up process and was able to set boot option 1 and 2.
