Hi guys,
I brought a brand new laptop from Comet, and I used the new laptop for about 2 months and guess what? Some keys on the keyboard are beginning to fall off, one of the keys on the keyboard has already came off. I brought it for £545. The laptop is made from China.
I took it back to Comet, one of the staff said that they will charge me money for keyboard replacement and he also said the keyboard is not part of a hardware.
I'm a computing student at University and it sounded as though he is naive.
What do you guys think of this?

The keyboard is hardware and covered by warranty unless they can show abuse by the user. Sale of Goods Act and "fitness for purpose" are a couple of phrases you can use.
Assembly in China is irrelevant: Currently all Samsung notebooks are made in a Samsung factory in China.

Hi guys,
What do you guys think of this situation?
My brand new laptop which I have used it for couple of months to do my assignments with, the keyboard buttons are coming off one by one, one of the buttons have already coming off by itself which I would not expect it to happen.
I have spoken to Samsung customer services today, I told them exactly what happened. One of the people said that they will charge me for the replacement keyboard and the other said no, they will not charge me for the keyboard. I do not know which is true. They also told me that if they found out that it was the customers fault for damaging the keyboard then they will charge me for it and if it was their manufactures fault then I would get a replacement keyboard for free.
I asked him his definition of damaged keyboard, he said poured drinks over the keyboard, dropped the laptop on the floor etc. I asked him, what about typing and he said, if it is customers misused then yes.
Normally normal typing would not misuse the keyboard unless the company is abusing the customers of their typing.
