    Hey,

I've got a Samsung NP370R5E-A02UK. It's running Windows 8.1 Pro and is completely up to date, including the new 8.1 update that was released yesterday.

The laptop boots up in seconds, but when I shut it down, the screen goes off after about 2 seconds, but then I have noticed that the laptop is staying powered on. The blue light on the front stays on and I can hear the fan and HDD still working inside. It then takes about 3 minutes before the laptop fully powers down.

Does anyone know why this might be happening? It's only started doing it since I updated to 8.1, when it was just Windows 8 Pro it powered down in seconds.

    Thanks in advance :)

You could look in Event Viewer's system log for the time of shut-down to see if it reports anything anomalous.

If that doesn't give any clues then put "Windows 8 slow shutdown" into your favourite search engine. The first discussion I looked at proved to be caused by the Bluetooth driver.
