Samsung isn't allowed to sell their notebooks in the US. This is because a special agreement with Dell. Dell sells two or three notebooks from Samsung with the Dell logo. For the time of the agreement lasts Samsung isn't allowed to sell their notebooks with their own brand in the US.
The only way to get someone in the US is by importing it from other countries. In GB, Germany and Australia Samsung buys many different models.
You can use your notebook (other brands too) in every country which has AC. The only thing you need is a fitting plug (costs ~2 EUR or Dollar).

It is even available in english. It is a web site that compare prices within all the online shops in Switzerland, so you always get the best deal. Check it out and tell me what you think about it.
It is generally true that notebook are a little cheaper in Switzerland than in Germany, UK, France or Italy. But that's just a general trend, I don't say it is an absolute rule. Enjoy, greets. Tudor -
Thanks for the tip. I have just stick it.

Which int'l shop will ship overseas to the US???
-
I don't know what shop ships and what shop doesn't ship to the US. You need just send send a mail and ask or have a look on their homepages (mostly you find the information at "Versandkosten").
If you don't speak German, I recommend translate.google.com to get a (bad) translation from a homepage -
These guys might want to ship to the US. I talked and bought something from them before. They are in Germany and they speak English as well.

It could be ... but I don't know. Is here someone from Switzerland??
-
Hm..anyway...i've write most of this UK shops that are listed and none replied
Any other UK shops (or any other country - but laptops must be English) that will ship to other EU countries?
any experiences ? -
Where are you from?
German shops sell sometimes also international (English) versions of notebooks. Have already asked a shop from Germany? -
I've contacted notebook.de and they give me the positive answer, but it takes about 1 month to get ENG version of the laptop.
Do you perhaps have some other shops in mind that are faster? -
Unfortunately, not.
I knew a shop, where you can buy upgraded Samsung notebooks (like you want), but I don't know the address any more ... -
Origami type "ultra-mobile PC" (UMPC) Samsung Q1 (7"„SuperBright Glare-TFT-Touchscreen“800 x 480 Pixel (WVGA), 900MHz ULV Celeron M processor, 779 g, 22,86 x 13,97 x 2,54 cm) will start to be sold in Germany next week.
It will be sold exclusively in "Saturn" shops.
The price is 1200 Euro.

It is much more likely to get the US English keyboard for a Swiss shop.
UK English layout is less comfortable to use than US English layout, unless you are in the UK. -
Hi guys,
I have been trying to get my hands on the X60 T2500 for a few weeks now without much success here in the UK. Apparently stock has run out all over the country and new shipment is not expected until the 8th or 18th of August depending on who you believe.
Today I struck lucky, as one of the online vendors I had contacted previously managed to get hold of a single unit and they set it aside for me; I am expecting it to arrive tomorrow morning. I was amazed by the customer service they offered me, so I thought it would be nice to pass their details on to others who might also be interested in the X60 as I can wholeheartedly recommend them (and no, I have no affiliation with them)
The company is called IT Databases and I was in direct contact with a lady called Alexis Cassey who went into a lot of trouble over the last few days to secure me a unit. Here are her details:

hey guys .. hmmm i'm in Malaysia .. although Malaysia has Samsung notebook but they are only x 11 /20/50 , no X60
was wondering if its possible to ship to msia ?? , the X60 that is ...
-
To be honest, I think most of the companies listed on page 1 (at least the European ones) won't ship to Malaysia because of the complicated shipping and toll.
I would recommend to contact UK or US shops for shipping to Malaysia. If you pay by credit card, they would eventually say yes. Good luck! -
well actually , the singapore( beside malaysia ) samsung sells X60 however , it only has the ATI x1400 from what i see in the website . I also have a cuzzie curretly in Austrilia but again , it only offers ATI 1400 and i heard that the Core2 Duo is comming out so ( it'll take sometime to reach austrilia and sg ) does this really mean i'm not destined to buy ? haha
-
As I already did tell you: Try contacting some US shops. Or - as you say - Australian shops.
On the other hand, the X1400 isn't a bad graphics, isn't it? -
Do you know which Samsung notebooks does Dell sells under their brand name, and is it exactly same as the one offered by Samsung outside US.
-
John Ratsey Moderately inquisitive Super Moderator
I believe that Dell is no longer rebadging Samsung notebooks.
John -
If Samsung hasn't already quit the contract, they are going to do it soon. Somewhere I heard something about 2007 or 2008, but as it was a long time ago, I can't remember for sure.
-
i live in california, and i was looking into getting a new laptop around september or so.
i LOVE samsung, and want their stuff..but i'm scared to import.
what exactly is going on, and when will i be able to buy their laptops in the US?
PLZ EXPLAIN!!! -
There are some buzzes in the world that Samsung would like to sell their notebooks under their own brand and quit the agreement with Dell (but I really don't know how long the agreement is still going on).
-
You say that they're not allowed to sell any Samsung laptops in the U.S. until 2007 because of a deal with Dell, so now that it's 2007 does that mean the Samsung M60 will be sold in the U.S.?
-

One does wonder whether Samsung's expansion of its range will be associated with an expansion into North America. Maybe their big presence at Cebit was intended to get potential distributors knocking on their door.
John -
Anyone know if this is happening? I'd love the option of purchasing a Samsung laptop from U.S. dealers.

Best Buy are offering the Samsung Q1. Is this the start?
John -
I've just noticed on the Samsung Australia website that they are no longer selling laptops. Am I right in thinking that Samsung laptops are also not available in the US, Canada and Dubai?
Our round the world trip takes in Egypt, Dubai, Australia, the US and Canada. Should I give up on buying a Samsung laptop? -

What about LG? I liked the look of some of their models, but they are not sold in UK.
John -
maybe to add up for the list of the shop... i would add www.vobis-shop.de in the list... their delivery service was really quick... at least thats what happen for my Q35 Ruby...
-
John, I think you're probably right. I am also considering the HP DV2500t, which has similar specs.
But the Samsung laptops look so good...! -
John Ratsey Moderately inquisitive Super Moderator
I quite liked the LG notebooks I saw in Dubai a year ago.
Just check up on whether that HP model suffers from the infamous CPU whine. HP notebooks seem to suffer from that problem more than most.
We are getting a bit off topic here! I must restrain myself.

You can Samsung from me now for the UK shoppers. I have included Samsung cause I like the new Aura range.
http://www.freerangepc.com
You get free delivery in the UK and NO extra charges for using a credit card, although you can opt for a discount if paying by bank transfer or cheque.
The Samsung Q45 will be in stock on Monday 21st May, but I am told it will sell out pretty fast!
I can send out to other countries but it is usually quite expensive due to insurance costs, but you can contact me for a quote. -

Welcome.
Your willingness to ship outside of the UK will be of interest to some members. I understand that the risk of disappearing packages is a reason why many UK retailers are not interested in shipping outside of UK.

Hi folks,
Just wanted to know: saw the post about the UK keyboard being hard to type on...I know it's off topic, but...how is it different from the US one?
Went to their site, and saw that the keyboards are listed as "2.6 mm keystroke depth" and "2.0mm key"...what's the difference with that anyhow? Is one easier to type on than the other? Made me wonder.
Thanks for any and all help. -
John Ratsey Moderately inquisitive Super Moderator
1. UK keyboards (and maybe other European keyboards) come with an extra key in order to make a place for the national currency symbol. See the attached for the Q70's keyboard. It is the same as on the Q35 and the right shift key has gone from generous to small. Strangely, on my X60 plus it is my left shift key which got reduced in size. Most confusing for my fingers when I switch between my two computers.
2. The key travel is the distance the keys move downwards when depressed. Ideally, more travel is better if you are typing a lot because the greater movement is more comfortable. However, more travel means a thicker computer since you don't want the display hitting the keys when it is closed (I have seen that problem on some older models).

Hello,
Curious: does Samsung have a date in mind for when their contract ends with Dell? And, does Samsung make a converter for using their computers with US outlets? Thanks! -
John Ratsey Moderately inquisitive Super Moderator
There's no info about Samsung starting to sell computers in the US. Comparing US and European computer prices has me wondering whether there is more profit to be made in Europe.
There would be no problem with plugging a Samsung notebook into a US power outlet. The PSUs are rated as 100-240V 50-60Hz so all you would need is a plug addaptor or get a different mains power lead for the PSU.

I too am waiting for Samsung to start selling its notebooks here, I hope we are not doomed to miss too many nice electronic products. -
There are no Samsung laptops sold in all Scandinavia (Finland, Sweden, Denmark...)
I plan to get one from Germany, but I am not sure about the warranty...will I be able to get help from Samsung in Sweden(when I will have problems) or should I send it to Germany? How does it work in this case?
Does somebody knows some more information about importing computers from other counties? -
