    Hello,

I have a Samsung R520 with T6600 CPU, 320 Gb HDD, 4 GB RAM. Bought back in August.

Recently i tried to install Ubuntu. But after i tried it, i have decided that its not for me. I wanted to unistall Grub. I restored my MBR using a CD "Vista Recovery CD", not supplied by Samsung. I simply did from command line "bootrec /FixMbr" and rebooted.

Then i was able to get into Vista without Grub screen. I removed the linux partition. Then i went to Bios settings when i reboot and made a "Load setup defaults".

This sums up what i did with my computer. Now i can use Vista. The problem is, when i want to go to Samsung Recovery using F4 in boot screen, it simply reboots back into Vista. Its impossible to boot the computer into Samsung Recovery Solution. I also downloaded it from Samsung, uninstalled it, reinstalled it. The recovery is still not working. I checked if the recovery partition is still on HDD and yes, its still there.

I dont know if its because of recreating the MBR or because of "Load setup defaults" from bios settings. I think i will need the recovery in a few days.

Any info will be appreciated what i did wrong and how can i fix it.

    Thanks everyone.

Looks like Samsung uses its own custom MBR that allows you to boot into Recovery Solution. Since a new OS was installed, the original MBR was lost, and there is no way to restore it.

That was my guess too. But in this case Samsung must also have a mbr recovery tool. I hope they will release one, otherwise their nice recovery tool is useful only half and can go useless if you like to experiment with your computer.
