I looked at my laptop and the backlight on it isn't working anymore. Does anyone know about replacing the screen or what could have caused it to be damaged? Any way I can check, maybe loose connections? I left it at my desk and it was very dark, I thought it was a software issues, but its broken I believe.
I think the backlight LED is not working. What part do I need and how hard is it to replace?
To anyone who has this issue, I found out that my problem was that I needed to massage the screen at the bottom right after watching this video: The connector was not connected, and after pressing on the screen around where the connector was it suddenly worked. Watch this video to see how its replaced, you can see where the connector is:
The other person who asked me wouldn't find this useful anymore I don't think, but it might help someone else in case your laptop is damaged. Thanks John for letting me edit this topic, I hope in case anyone else has it this is useful to you!

Unlike CCFL backlights,LED lights should outlive the user never mind the computer
.
So suspicion must fall on the power supply to the LED backlighting (which is built into the display panel).
The only easy place to check is the display cable connection onto the mainboard. The cable itself might also be damaged where it passes through one of the hinges. However, cable replacement involves dismantling the display.
You can find a list of parts at samsungparts.com. Once you have identified a part number it is worth searching elsewhere both by part number and description. You may also find that someone is selling parts salvaged from a dead computer.

Thank you very much John! You helped me before and you helped me again today!
I felt hopeless and resigned, thinking a blow fuse was the reason it stopped working as it seems like a common problem for backlights to stop functioning because of that. I disconnected it and reconnected it and it was the same issue. I was going to give up when I reconnected it and it suddenly worked. I assume I set it down too hard and it was disconnected somewhat, unless there is another reason. I suspect that maybe the charger could have done something as well as it frequently connects and disconnects from the laptop.
What can a bad laptop charger do to a laptop? I think I will order a replacement soon now. -

That's good it's decided to wake up again.
The old CCFL backlights used to have inverter (and occasionally, tube) problems but LEDs are robust and reliable in comparison.
It's possible there is a problem with the power circuitry that could be difficult to troubleshoot. Trying a different PSU is part of the testing process.

I'm experiencing the same issues with the same device. It magically fixed itself for about a month. Unfortunately disconnecting and reconnecting the display from the board didn't do it for me this time. Have you discovered the root of the problem since your last post? I'm thinking its a loose wire up in the display panel, but I wanted to check with you before I do a full teardown. Thanks!
