At least it is not completely dead. :) We have two threads that might be relevant to BIOS problem: http://forum.notebookreview.com/samsung/698094-samsung-bios-update-problems.html and http://forum.notebookreview.com/samsung/706510-samsung-laptops-bricked-using-uefi.html.

Are you running the original Windows installation or did you change it?

I would start by going into the BIOS (tap the F2 key a few times immediately after pressing the power button to start the computer) and select the option to reset to default values. If that doesn't work, then turn the computer off, disconnect the mains power, disconnect the battery by poking a straightened paperclip through the hole in the bottom (next to rectangale with cross in it) then hold down the power button for a minute. Then reconnect the mains power and try again.

It that doesn't work then the problem may lie with the UEFI / CSM settings in the BIOS.

Hi. Sorry very new to forums. My ultrabook series 9 won't start. I clicked the button on the back with a paper clip and now not even the blue bottom will turn on. Please help. I'm about to start finals and all my notes for the semester are there. :0(

Try (i) unplug the PSU; (ii) disconnect the battery through the hole in the bottom (the step you have tried already); (iii) hold down the power button for half a minute; (iv) plug in the PSU (the battery should automatic reconnect); (v) check if the power light (top left above keyboard) comes on and, if it does, then press the power button to see if the computer starts.

If the power light does not come on then it is possible that the PSU is dead (is the light on the PSU working?) and the battery is drained or the power circuit in the computer has died.

If the computer does not come back to life then the priority is to get at your files. To do this you will need to remove the bottom of the computer and take out the mSATA SSD (see this thread) and put it in an mSATA to USB adapter (see here).

Once you have got everything you need off the SSD then put it back and start investigation options to get the computer fixed.
