I really like the design, style, and interface of this net-tablet(?), but I am not to fond of the the atom cpu. I personally would have like to seen it with a ULV i core cpu.

The 9 series looks better to me.

With an ULV cpu the battery wouldn't last more than 4 hours. And the machine would require fan, and so would be bulkier, and louder.

Unless it's slow as hell (we don't know yet, unfortunately), Oak Trail sounds a better compromise for me.

An active digitizer, a slightly bigger screen (11.6'') would be perfect for my needs, but so far this thing is probably the best tablet-like device to buy until windows 8 is out, or other mobile OS' reach maturity.
At least for everyone who still needs windows, and to get work done with it.

I don't think that would be necessarily true. I have seen many ULV devices getting up to 10 hours of battery like out of a 14in screen. I could deal with this being a bit thicker just to have an ULV cpu and better battery life. Then again the new AMD Fusion chip would be also a nice choice also, as the gpu is better than the intel IGP of i core devices(not sure about it vs SB), but cpu performance is between dual core atom and i core. I had an atom device and it was imho not good, and that was under Ubuntu, even the newer ones I have messed around with weren't that much better.

One word - WOW! I think that is going to be a very, very desirable product. Beats the iPad hands down!

bump... It's march and I have yet to find any release information. I was told by the CES Samsung Rep that it would be available in march. I'm not liking the how samsung release products. It seems that they don't mention anything or keep anyone updated.

Keep an eye on the Samsung global download site. Then usually a retailer somewhere will list the product before Samsung put the product on their sales websites. And March still has 3 weeks to run.

I'm surprise it's taking this long to release the 7 series. I was told around march and have yet to see any updated information.

It was also really strange that they would not let you touch it during CES.

They must be working bugs out or something. I hope they said the US would get it because it sounds really really cool.

^^ Oak Trail has started shipping only a few days ago; I guess it took longer than expected, that's why not only the sliding PC but all the Oak Trail-based tablets are experiencing delays.

I get the sneaking feeling that this was canned. A shame because I want one.
