Press Fn+F4 one or more times. This steps through the various display options.

    John,

My native screen is NOT functioning, I can't see anything on that 1, do I need to connect the external monitor before start-up ?

It would be best to connect the external display before startup since it will be sure to get detected although pressing Fn+F4 a few times can force the computer + Windows to detect that an external display is plugged in. However, this is not reliable.
