Saw a Samsung Series 9 13" next to the 15" today....

......and there really was a difference in the viewing angles. The 13" PLS did not get washed out from above and the sides but the 15" "disappeared.

I did notice on the Samsung USA website that all of the 15" display descriptions have been changed

    Screen Size 13.3"
    Type LED HD+
    Resolution 1600 x 900
Brightness 400 nits SuperBright™ Plus Technology

Could this mean that the new shipments of 15" have better screens?

Also saw that on the Samsung Business link they showed 2 x 15" with silver bodies instead of the Grey/Black/Blue (choose your color)

Yes, the PLS panel offers much better viewing angles and causes the problem that it makes the 15" panel (which is well above average) look poor when alongside its smaller sibling. There are several side-by-side photos in my X4C review.

Is the 13.3" your mistake or Samsung's?

Nobody has, so far, reported on receiving a noticeably better 15" display.

    Good eye....

Looks like I cut/pasted from the 13.3.........I guess my question is.....why all of a sudden did they change the description on the 15" to read the same as the 13.3?

2nd Question.....I like the feel of the 15" over the 13"...more wrist room without hitting the sharper edge.......is that screen going to be a problem? I am reaching the end my 2 week "honeymoon" with the MacBook Air and I am driving myself nuts whether to add Parallels to it to run the 2 Windows programs I need to run or to give it back and get the Samsung or Asus and just go with a Windows Ultrabook instead of the MBA.

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you

    Elliot

I can't comment on the Windows vs Mac dilemma but I can say that I've been using my NP900X4C intensively for the past month and consider both the computer and its display to be very usable. A PLS panel would be even nicer but this is a much better traveling companion than the Lenovo T420s. The main reservation with the X4 (C or D) at the moment is that Samsung have shipped a lot with Sandisk U100 SSDs which is the digital equivalent of tying its bootlaces together (see my review). You either have to do your homework to find one without a U100 or read this thread.

    Thank you, John.

I have had the U100 and it was OK....but definitely slow......I have an OCZ on my desktop that is lightening fast.

It's funny you mention the Lenovo as the Laptop I am replacing is my Thinkpad T400 which is 4 years old.

Normally, you don't, but it means that the display can be used under very bright lighting including outside. Unlike something such as this. I normally use my X4C at 5/8 or 6/8 brightness, depending on ambient conditions.

The 13" definitely has the better screen but the screen on the 15" is still excellent. Better than most other ultrabooks I've seen. If anybody is on the fence getting the 15", the screen shouldn't be the reason why.
